Plans include a 2 to 3 inch lift and 33 inch tires, I might also change to 16 inch rims and go metric but the same height. Going to build front and rear bumpers, and probably remove the crappy running boards and make some step/rock rails. Limited engine stuff, change over to single belt, intake/exhaust efficiency increases, possibly bigger alternator and electric fans.
Only issues right now is a slightly loose steering feel, and the engine is running a little lean. I changed the air filter and swapped to new plugs. Probably will drop in a new O2 sensor just because it's so easy.

Any thoughts or ideas from the forum?

16-17" rims will be eisier to find tires for in the future (15" tires are getting to be an order only thing and expensive) but its getting hard to find them with out a 5-6" backspace unless you just want plain black or white steel ones. The burb in my sig (around page 25 I think) is a 3" lift with 33x12.5x15's and 10"wide 3.75"BS wheels.

Welcome!

Nice starting rig you have there...:waytogo:

you must not have those azzclowns trying to toss your trucks salad going down the road....:pimp:

Crap, bad news/good news. Driving it around and the motor started with some knocking. I'm pretty sure its a rod knock. Looks like the lift and other "fun" stuff has to wait a little while. I'm dropping in a new motor (good news), probably going to also do a CompCam 252BH11 cam at the same time. Because I can, unless there is some huge reason not too?

That's definitely more of a bummer than a good thing. O well, it's how it goes. I got about 1000 miles on mine before I dumped it.

Next step was completed today.......................

picked up a low mile 98 Chevy 350 Vortec for $600
was rebuilt/installed about 36,000 miles ago, came complete from flex plate to engine accessories. The entire single belt front drive system is intact, placing the alternator and A/C compressor on the correct sides for my 88 burb. Also has the exhaust intact, so looks like I'll be shopping for a GM vortec TBI intake soon. Probably going to go with the DynamicEFI computer and let it self tune after I bump up the fuel pressure.
But as of the next month or so, I need to finish out my motorcycle first. So that will slow down funding for my white whale for a little bit.

Good lookin truck :D I'm partial to white suburbans.

Seems like old guys put extra reflectors on their trucks.. no offense to anybody

I'm old,and put extra reflectors on my trucks..but I'm not offended..:D

I put that tape on my plow trucks rear bumper because its black and the stepside tail lamps are like candles ,plus one gets hidden by the small crane hoist on the right side I mounted to the bumper--truck is dark maroon and quite invisible under certain conditions --I also put a few strips of red reflector tape on the inside of the door near the latches, so oncoming cars can see if the door is open better--and I put a strip of white reflective tape on the front side of the door mirrors...newer trucks have mirrors with little clearance lamps on them,it does much the same thing..

I like people to see me coming and going!..with all the brain dead cell phone yappers and texters driving around here--you need everything you can to avoid them running into you at night..

A nice in town pic................
