hey all, the PO Had a battery blow up on him. He said He cleaned up some, however there is alot of surface rust and some acid corrosion on the frame, wheel well and the body. My question is what is the best way to clean it up? I already made a baking soda/water mix and spread that around hopefully neutralize any acid that is left over.

I was thinking of taking the wire wheel to most of it, then hitting it with some rustoleum. But there are some tight spots I wont be able to get to.

Thanks for any info

i doubt the acid is still on there, id just hit it with a pressure washer real good then hit it with some paint

If your anal about detail, take the front clip apart and clean it all, but then that would prob lead to the body coming off, and everything else. atleast thats what happened to me hah

the chemical reaction's duration is limited by the less abundant component (the acid), not the abundant one (the steel). so, the acid is almost certainly neutralized or evaporated by now.

if you really want it to look good, i'd say rinse it with water, drag it with a putty knife while it's still wet, rough sand it once it dries, then use fine grit and/or steel wool. then prime and paint.
