can i get some pics of batteries moved to the firewall please?
i want to take out my heat junk and put in a mojave heater and move the batt to the firewall. thanks

Ok, here you go. I used the stock tray and cut the bottom bracket off and made some new 3/16" steel brackets and welded it together. Also, on the inside of the firewall I welded some fender washers and nuts to make installation easy. It is plenty strong and cost almost nothing to make. I had the steel left over from another project and had everything else.

awesome :thumb: that is just what i was looking for! I am thinking of going dual batts but for now i think i will do that! thanks

WOW I was going to get the drivers side tray from LMC,But this looks cheaper (I have a 2nd left side tray) And wanted to get rid of the heater stuff anyway. Thanks for the Idea.

I think i might add some sides to mine and use a better hold down than the original one

everything Ryoken does is pretty damn awesome  I am trying to get my tbi conversion done asap so i can get it back on the road and wheelin. and then hopefully before BB08 ill have 1 tons and 39s

I was going to change the hold down but I haven't had a problem with it comming loose in over 5 years and I am pretty sure it would survive a flop or roll.

The hold down came with the Optima battery and is not the stock GM part. You can see in the pic how far in it goes and it kinda wraps around the center cell of the battery.

Sweet I was thinking about doing this earlier today

Hijack time
What all needs to be done to take the heating stuff out? Besides tearing the box out that is, what do you guys do to the coolant lines? Can I just plug them up? or put in a loop from the in to the out? Thanks and sorry for the hijack

Ive got a red top with the same hold down so if it has been working for you for 5 years i think i will just stick with that until i run dual batts. :waytogo:

If you dont want heat at all I would just get plugs and do it that way so you dont have any hoses running in your way.

Side note: I noticed in your other picture of your fans that your neg batt cable wasnt grounded to the alternator bracket. Where is yours grounded? My is on the alt bracket and I hate it there because it just drapes across from the batt.

I just looped mine together for now. I will hook them up to my heater later but the plan is to just put some holes through the firewall and tie them to my heater.

Just gone done pulling the fenders and cutting off the bottom support brackets of the batt tray. Ground them down now all I need is some steel pieces and someone to weld them on for me :D
