Ordered a replacement battery tray as mine is rusting through... the new trade seems to be bottom only, while my original tray has a side piece that seems to be welded or fused to it?

Let me know what you think, did I order a wrong piece or am I missing something here

Is your truck a pre 80? Not sure of exact year split. There is a base for driver side try needs to welded on to tray. Can be bolted, but I hear mine bonce when I hit good bumps. Going to weld when I get a chance.
Any way LMC has the base, part# 38-6313.

Mine is a 80, should be same as 79 though (im just guessing)

There is split, the difference is the way it bolts to fender and core support. I can't say what year it is.

dam the part number I listed is for the driver side or aux battery. I just saw the picture on my computer (phone earlier). You are talking about Passenger side main batt. so don't use the part number I listed.

I like the batteries sitting sideways like that. One of my Bros lives down a real shitty road, and he drives them like they're made haul. He asked me if I had any idea and I explained that with the battery sitting front to rear the plates can get loose and short internally.

I'm full of useless information...lol

I looked at the catalog again and it looks like there are three pieces to the battery tray, all sold separately but should be welded together??

I don't know if mine has just fused together over time, but I don't see how the new pieces would fit together, there is nothing to attach the battery tray to the radiator support piece

I can see the two pieces are sold separately, but I don't see how one would attach to the other. What am I missing! Thanks in advance

I can see now that these pieces are supposed to be separate, mine were fused together from 1980, look like it was Factory welded together!

I just cut out the old tray and I'm going to put a bolt in the new one like Kenny suggested

I bought both the pieces from LMC and they fit great, they've been in there a few years and I drive pretty aggressively offroad and they're fine. They're bolted in quite a few places in the fender, inner fender, each other and the core support. My original was missing so can't help with the orginal being welded.

If you bolt the tray to the support bracket, make sure that it doesn't rub a hole in the battery. That is why the factory welded them together.

I didn't put a bolt, I cut the old tray out and the new tray just sits on the old brackets. I also put a full size Duralast Gold battery in. thank you guys for the help
