It's hard to tell from the pics, but you have to get very close to the edge of the shelf road to make a left turn around a rock outcropping. There's just a foot or two to spare. An aptly named obstacle IMO.

I can see why, I think most everyone did scratch their "butts" on the way down. You certainly see the streaks!Maybe Pritchett was the safe way to go...
And in less spiritual terms, I've heard that that ledge on Gold Bar Rim is called "ButtScratcher Ledge". But I can't help thinking that Jason is o.k with that...
Okay I think we carried the analogy far enough.
In BB05 I attempted Gold Bar Rim and wrecked the R&P in my rear axle on the first optional obstacle we tried. You could barely say we even started the trail. So this year since Dad is running my old tires I had at BB05, I had him prove that a front locker makes all the difference.
