BB 2008 picture & video thread

There is some great pictures in this thread of trucks and scenery, and forgive me for not knowing much about this deal but do significant others join you on this venture? That is beautiful country for a midwestern to go see sometime.

TONY
I wouldn't get any pictures/video if my wife didn't come. :wink1:

Speaking of pictures/video your wife took... I know you got some more she was all over the place snapping pictures and recording :bow::bow: . Don't hold back release your inner pic whore :D

This is the first time in 5 years that my wife DIDN'T go...and she's been there a few times with her own truck.

And yes, this is must-see country...

I think had Claudia been present she would have talked me out of going in Pritchett...

Cut that out!!! You trying to get me busted?!?!!? I am trying to hook this up so I can be out there next year with no SheWhoMustBeObeyed (SWMBO) and no kids. That's just not cool! :haha:

The Loco guys all neatly stacked up...

Project Hand-Me-Down (does it have a new name now?) is now right-hand drive...:waytogo:

View from the lunchspot on MetalMasher...

I like to think about moments like these when I sit in my office in Baton Rouge...

Nevermind the adrenaline of 'wheeling obstacles, I love that. But I've been up on that rim many times, I have very similar pictures from previous trips, and somehow that view never gets old...

The light of the desert sun, the view of the expansive landscape, the color of the rocks in the distance, tan and green to the north, red to the south, the dust in the dry air, the sounds and smells of trucks cooling down, a lunch break where food is secondary because there's too much to see, many good friends and good 'wheeling comrades from around the country to talk to, the thoughts of what it took to get there, and what it'll take to get back out to blacktop nearly 1000 vertical feet below...

If you haven't been there, you may think it's weird that I write this :eek1:.

(side note - if you're from the East: the light is different out here, you haven't seen anything like it...).

Those of you that have been there, I bet you know exactly what I mean...:D

Sometimes it's tough to see the magic of Moab because we're so focused on 'wheeling. But it's there, and it doesn't take much to find it...

Well, I better post some hardcore pix after this...

Here's Big Orange on Rock Chucker Hill - anything under 38" tires on the long wheelbase line need not apply ;)

Here's a pic on the way home...a little ways north of Hanksville, UT

I love Utah.

My drive home was pretty awesome: Green River, Hanksville, Capitol Reef NP, Grand Staircase NM, Escalante, pass by Bryce Canyon NP, Kanab into AZ, past Vermillion Cliffs, and cross the Colorado at Marble Canyon.

Would have been a nice drive even without 'wheeling Moab ;).

Looks like I missed the sweet Planet4x4 trip too. :( :(

Hopefully I will be going down on the Rocky Mountain Extreme.com Porcupine Rim mt. bike ride/Moab trail ride.... Oct 18/19!!! woot.

:D :D

Might of missed it but were you driving your Blazer?

Yes, every mile of it. :D . Well, o.k., not the part from Baton Rouge to Phoenix. The big silver bird covered that...

I always figure that if a truck can handle a rough-and tumble trail, then a nice smooth blacktop road should pretty much be a cakewalk . Even if it's about 700 miles, it's still just a paved road...

And those pix courtesy of the fast autofocus on the Nikon...I could have stopped, but I've got places to go, and it's a long way home...

Just to reiterate what I said above, this is must-see country. The 'wheeling is the icing on the cake....

WOW! I just made it through everything and it looks like you guys had a blast! Maybe someday with some more CK5 influence I'll have characterized sheetmetal, 1 tons and lockers so I can join ya'! Maybe after I finish college :)

On a side note, I was under the impression you guys (meaning CK5'ers) met up and ran the trails together... but it looks like you had multiple groups? How's all that work? Maybe it's just because I'm not familiar with the setup at Moab...

Anyways looks like a blast!

Go to a website called traildamage.com and look at the trails in Utah. There are brief explanations about the trails.

Do you have a thread or specs on your Blazer?

No build thread .

It's rather simple, actually.
Q-Jet 350; 700/208. 10b front, 8-lug, 4.56, ARB, 28-spline stock shafts modified for full-circle snap rings, Spicer 5-760 u-joints; 3"TC HD springs, stock steering/drop pitman arm, frame weld-in plate and ORD brace. D60FF rear, 30-spline Moser shafts, 4.56, ARB, disk brakes; 2 1/2" ORD flip, 2"TC springs; (new for this year) ORD traction bar. 315/75x16 MTRs on 16x8. ORD front bumper, Ramsey 9.5e winch, dual batteries, rocksliders, rear bumper by Dirk Phillips. Shocks are ProComp MX6 adjustables, but past their prime; that's why I've been running with the swaybar connected (I do have the ORD disco's) to reduce body roll. Sheetmetal cut at all 4 corners ('fangs'), rear of front fenders trimmed back.

Would need more tire for the optional Moab obstacles, and running a trail like Pritchett. But then the front becomes really questionable. Pritchett was the exception rather than the rule; usually, I don't do trails like that. Needs more shock/damping for sure.

Mastercraft suspension seat to keep me comfy; A/C functional :wink1:.

Drove to every Blazer Bash and back; first from Nebraska, and lately from Arizona.

You know, just a simple K5 :D.
