BB 2019 last minute thrash

Get the tcase figured out now it will come down to reclocking the tcase or a new front drive shaft. We will see what happens.

Yea wallet says I do both I won't be at bb. Right now I'm tired of dealing with it as a whole. Every time I take a step forward I take 2 back.

Still haven't even started prep or know if the truck is even going... I don't know yet boys, it's still up in the air. I don't want to keep going as a passenger bumming rides though but it sucks missing the event. I have gone the passed 4 years in a row.

Did you not just make a 300 mile run with it recently? What's stopping you from going further to Moab?

Don't want to drive it 466 miles, wheel, then drive it the same distance home. I can save money and be more comfortable towing it, not to mention if something happens I need a way home.

Kids these days. :surepal:
Back in the day we drove hundreds of miles in rusted out, knocking pieces of crap and wheeled all weekend. Then we daily drove it when we got back home.
Sometimes we made it, sometimes we were trail-fixing our way home, but it didn't stop us from going.

I still have trail fixes on the truck from blazer bash 2 years ago. :haha:

It's been like this all my life.
Last year I changed my mind and I am not sure if I regretted it, the truck was my sleeping quarters but the trailer gave me more trouble than the blazer could ever.
This time I am going big, but following years I just want to drive it there and back.

I'm not following math on how you save money towing the truck. Any gas truck you would pull with would get fairly crappy mileage compared to the truck itself. Maybe you got a diesel truck lined up to borrow. I don't know. You'll do what you can to get out there. I won't beat you up about not driving it. As long as you show up you will have fun, truck or no truck.

These beasts ain't cheap to drive for sure. I'm saving my ass off to afford to go to. 12mpg with mine to drive over 7 hours one way.

Part of it is my upbringing. We never flew anywhere when I was a kid on family vacations. We drove. Most of the time we were going to a convention for the Nomad club. So the whole family stuffed into our 57 Nomad and took off. Dad carried a small tool box and a spare set of points, condenser and brushes for the generator. We just went.

I think all he ever had to do on a trip was replace the generator brushes. The car was pretty reliable despite the nasty solid cam he had in it.

I've learned to be prepared. Take tools. Take spare parts you think you might need. And for the LS swapped or EFI in general you should bring some type of scan tool device and a volt/ohm meter and know how to use it.

The best way to make sure a ride is road trip ready is to daily it for a couple of weeks. Find and fix issues as you come across them. If you get through that time without any issues, take the road trip. If it can't handle daily traffic, heat of the day or just isn't reliable then you a probably not ready to hit the highway.

Just a guide I've used and it has worked for me. Even if I had to suffer without ac it was worth it.

I would.prefer to tow it with a diesel but a gasser I would even do. The truck would make it but it's a 7.5 hour trip and at about 10mpg it isn't cheap on 91. Yes it will run on 87 just fine but I would.prefer the comforts on a long trip like that especially sense I can't split it up into days.

Yeah. I’m not driving my Blazer on the highway anywhere more than 2-3 hrs. straight. I worked my ass off to pay for a nice diesel crewcab for that shit.
