We need a volunteer to help Keith with vehicle inspections at BFE this year. It's not intended to be a nag-fest. Just another set of friendly eyes to look trucks over and make sure the owner didn't miss anything obvious. It will be from 8AM to 11AM and I'm pretty sure someone said something about donuts... Oh, and you'll get a hat.

I know last year the guys saved at least 1 guy from a u-joint failure on the trail. :waytogo:

Not a problem, I take it in stride, crack, break, snap, wobble, however it happens. Just glad between us we had all the parts and tools needed to get my junk off the trail.

Our play doh fix is still holding even after the 400 mile drive home. Vibration and noise never got any worse the whole trip. 45 to 55 mph was the sweet spot so that is what I drove at. I may take it to the drive shaft shop tomorrow and see what they have to say about it, since it wasn't a week old.

Wow dude, you got balls. Dont think I would have drove it home like that, I know the guys that worked on it!

Well Moab 4x4 outpost couldn't get parts in and put together until wed noonish, so I figured well if I can get to Colorado I have a lot of connections and shops I can get to once I hit Grand Junction including tow trucks or pickups and trailers to make it cheaper than staying in Moab.

So I drove a few miles with the left front, then figured well I will baby it in rear wheel drive and if the drive shaft falls off I will stop and pick it up and run front wheel as far as I dare.

About once an hour I would stop and check the bolts and look at the CV. Nothing ever changed other than leaking gear oil out the rear output of the 205, but when I would check the level it was always way full, so I wonder if I am pulling some out of the 203.:dunno:

It never got any louder or worse all the way so I just went.

Had an interesting thing happen on Monarch Pass. Climbing Monarch about 3 or 4 miles past Sargents it quits like it ran out of fuel, so I ram it in neutral and swerve to a pull out on the opposite side of the road against the rock wall.

I sit for a few minutes, then check the fuel pump fuse, its fine, hears some little pebbles fall from the cliff near the truck so I decided to coast it downhill as far as I could. So off we went coasting, no power steering, or power brakes, letting it go as fast as I dared so I could get as far as possible, passed one car on the way down and ended up coasting up to the gas pumps in Sargents. I knew I still had 7 gallons or better in the tank. I tried to start it again and still no dice. So I filled the tank (9 gallons and some change) so there was plenty of fuel the whole time. Tried to start it and after 4 or 5 tries it fired up and never had another problem the rest of the trip. :dunno:

I think that is why he made it.

Glad you made the trip home Duane, Personaly I would get your money back from them guys that built that shaft, chinc u-joint using junkies. Get you a Tom Woods, trail damage warranty and life time on the u-joints, you seen Kerry abusing mine.

Yep gonna make a trip up to see them in person tomorrow and chat about the getting the shaft. Not sure how successful it will be but I will try. I think I have all the trashed joints also in the truck so I will pull those out and snap a few pics of my bags of carnage from the bash before I take it to them.

It was $310.00 for the rear shaft and it was all new, the front they used my old stuff. Invoice date was 08/28, after install truck was driven 10 miles then the 400 to Moab and the trails I did.

Definitely gonna upgrade to some larger yoke and joints, Taking recommendations on size, brand etc.

x2!!, I usually keep a trailer close by!:D Glad you made it home without any major issues. Find some 1350's for the t-case side and 1410's for the axle side.
