BB15 for the Newbs!

Take your time and have fun! There is plenty of trails your blazer can do in the condition you already have it in. We have all heard the horror stories about some of the trails in the Moab area. Thing is your rig should do well on any 3 rated trails and even some 4 rated trails. Fins n things is a good place to get your feet wet and experience what Moab has to offer. Hell's Revenge is another great trail with some spectacular views. Hell's has some formations you wont be able to do. But, the trail as a whole is easy enough that there are you tube videos of a Ford crown Vic running the trail.

Things to remember,
Take it slow and go with folks who are more familiar with the area.
Let those folks know what you are working with and your experience level.
If you are not comfortable say something.
Air down your tires.
Don't be afraid to take a tug or get winched from a fellow wheeler.
Use your lowest gears. Not only for climbs but also for descents.

LT.

The only thing to add to this list is

You probably don't want to listen to me, and I would for sure avoid my co-driver Jack. He gives really really bad advice.

He is funny to be around I hear, Sometimes I can't remember though

I've heard Jack is a pretty good guy to listen to though...That's the last time I ever listen to Samuel...

It looks like Friday morning I need to choose between the Arches ride and it sounds like Fins n Things as my first one. I need to consult my other half and see what she wants.

I listen to this guy all the time. Never good advice but good times for sure

Got the nod of approval from the boss, Fins n Things it is!

Yeah, spotter. There was some stuff I hardly remember cause all I did was watch the spotter lol

For me, Moab was the very first time I ever had a spotter or anyone else to wheel with. I've only wheeled solo. So I learned fast on my first trail (Moab Rim) to keep an eye on where the truck in front was going. I lost the track for a second and ended up taking a much harder line, got REAL tippy. (CB radio would have helped) LOL Jack laughed since he was ahead and watching. Said it made him feel better knowing K5s could tip that bad buwahahaha :doah:

*shivers*, Moab Rim and Hell's Revenge are the best kind of newbie runs :haha::whistle:

Yes, I was wondering what you were doing on that tippy line...figured you knew what you were doing :dunno:

My first significant wheeling was at Moab when the Blazer was only 6 months new to me. I did:

Fins-n-things (by myself and end up breaking )
Hell's Revenge (scared the poo out of me, but made it fine)
Seven Mile Rim (great trail for a newby)
Strike Ravine (challenging for a newby, but a good run)

There was a newby couple in a basiclly stock Suburban on Crack-n-Back last year that did well. We stopped them a little way before the crack where the ledges get bigger.

Its better to admit your limitations/reservations and ask or help than to act like a know-it-all and get yourself into a bad spot.

Look forward to see you there :waytogo:

And there is always someone around to convince you to drive off of a ledge to step up your game.

Yea i was the one in the red truck. It did pretty good for 4" lift and 33s with stock open axles. but I also drove it there and back so had to be careful. It was my first time ever really wheeling and I did the newby run first(so called newby run..) I honestly couldnt believe what the truck was capable of. :eek1::waytogo:

Chevman88 You are welcome to come on the scouting trip to Aeches when I go in June or July. I did the noob trail last year with an all stock but 2 inc lift Suburban. Had great spotters and as said followed the guy in front to see where he went.

Mine is a 350 tbi 4 speed manual 10 bolts 3:73s on 33" rubber.

The only damage I got was on the rocker under drivers door, but a movie/show truck did it.

That looks awesome! I am looking forward to going, just need to get a few things done beforehand. Axles being the big one. My current ones are in need of a rebuild, so I just bought replacement 3/4 tons as I got them for pretty cheap in a deal with my trans.

If my little S-10 can do it, anyone can

Yeah it's only one of the best built rigs at the event....

It's just a little SAS S-10 on 35" tires, I don't know what your referring too Scott?

Actually the sick part is that it really is only a little S-10 with a SAS and 35" tires, on a 10B front and 12B rear axle. Well built and thought out vehicle but it works because it is pretty simple.
