BB2020 Golden Spike run

I wasn't pushing for another trail, just putting out the option if it helps with crowding. I'm okay with whatever is best for the group and the workers.
Having another trail is fine. Some of us have seen 20 trucks on that run, and it’s a clusterfukorama

Any of yous guys wanna do the CnB like was mentioned? We can split the groups up a little

So this is coming from a moab dummy. I was trying to look at trail maps of moab. To do golden spike, you get there by poison spyder or gold bar rim. When you say crack n back, how does that run? That shit looks so confusing haha

So how is it that wade said you can run into that group while having lunch?

Because it has happened 3 of the 4 times I have done Golden Spike.

Shorter run to the trail head. And we just keep moving. Goldbar has miles of trail just to get to the trail head and a bunch of it is just rocky rough stuff that most people go slow through.

I’m not doubting you, I just don’t understand. You said you have done crack n back in 2 hours, but guys are saying golden spike expect 8-10 hrs. I’m just confused haha

Group count changes all the estimated times. Get a group of 4, fast movers, doing spike from the poison Spider end and they will beat a group of 10 on CNB to the crack every time.

That’s because you’re a n00b. We’ve seen the Trifecta rear it’s head

the actual Golden Spike portion of the trail is the longest

I’m starting to put two and two together. Five right? Lol

Yes

actually, the gold bar par is the fun part, FYI
Haha, it’s all good. We’ll run whatever works best for the group. I just can’t wait to get out of this 117 degree b.s....

Basically all the warnings about Golden Spike are "planning for worst, but hoping for the best".

The recent years of running Golden Spike have gone smoother because we've been more focused on being prepared for it. Even still, you never now what might happen. Like a guy with a high pinion D60 punching the yoke thru his oil filter. Who carries a spare oil filter on the trail? One year we had several trucks lose their ignition control modules - luckily spares of those are more common.

I think @Fastereddie and @Desert_K5 would enjoy the usual dash down Gemini Bridges Road to and from Gold Bar Rim.

Here's a past event trail handout for Crack n Back:

Does this trail come out the same place it starts? I was wanting to trailer the rig but heard that the end is not near the start.
