i have seen that people are using 68610 headers and one guy had em with a doubler. but ive lost it now from seeing so much. :doah:

i would like short ones but dont know if theyre benificial enough to not just run manifolds. long tubes would be better for torque but i dont want my exhaust running under the tcase lol

ive got a 454 400 203 205 clocked flat in an 85 k5.

help me ck5, youre my only hope.

:haha:

Fwiw, I got a set of shorty headers for my K5 (454, hydro 4spd, clocked Doubler). They are pretty short and fit beautifully but I can't swear they're better than manifolds... I just hate manifolds and refuse to run them. There are a few pics in my build thread (see sig) of the headers and my single exhaust set up, no mega performance but it's nice and tight with no undercarriage clutter and I can easily pull any part of it to work.

It's funny I am the exact opposite, I can not stand headers.
Now a Tri Y long tube would probably make me change my mind just for the gains I would get in real world performance in my kind of driving, but I never had a problem with my manifolds seals, the headers always had leaks, and the heat under hood was too much.
:dunno:

Honestly, I've never had manifold problems I just think they're ugly. Purely a visual thing for me. :doah:

i prefer headers too, some of it is visual too...

I would however avoid something built cheaply like these appear to be. 18 gauge tubes? 1/4" flange? ghey, and they'll sound very tinny.

1/2" flange and 14 or 16 gauge tubes would be much better. Check Zimmers L&L headers. Not the cheapest by far, but that is a set of headers I'd own in a heartbeat.

I really like the stout build of the L&L's....the finish could be better on them though.
I am going to try to squeeze my exhaust through between the 205 and the frame. I will probably make an oval pipe through that section and rigidly mount it so it doesn't bang into either. I'm looking at a flex pipe connection between the header cone and that rigid mounted piece....well that's the hopeful plan right now anyway....my plans have been known to need modification though.

You can see in this pic of where I'm talking about: Its about 2.5 between the bolts of the cradle link and the 205 casting....it will be a squeeze through there I think. I will also have ~2" body lift on my truck.
I've also considered cutting that protruding brace mount off the 205 to give more room too.
