BBC Serpentine???

Dunno for sure, but it will probably require a reverse rotation long water pump.

If you get a concrete answer I'm interested as well. I'm running a MarkIV 396/402 with milled 454 OC heads.

I called the local Chevrolet Parts and Services department and they were unhelpful (as usual). I didnt get a yes or a no whether it would fit or not....

The real pisser is that they don't sell the kit without the a/c compressor and power steering pump. I don't need either of them. I guess I'll take their parts list to the local dealer and see what it would cost to buy the rest of the stuff individually...

buy it all in the kit and sell the new on ebay. have you seen the prices on the a/c comp alone. just a idea. and you might actuly make some money back also.

I believe it comes with a water pump. Basically EVERYTHING you need to convert over

The first part number he posted is a kit without the a/c compressor i think? Its a bit cheaper too.
The description is the same for both, but when you place the order, it specifically says w/o a/c.
Different part numbers for the kit with a/c and the kit without a/c

That kit is for non-air-conditioned vehicles. The brackets are different, although they use the same picture for both kits. A black Suburban NEEDS a/c! :cool1:

I have this info saved from a while back.

Cool deal...Thanks for the info.
What is the difference between the Mark IV and the Gen V BBC's?

Are you sure the brackets are different? I mean the main brackets or? My '90 had a/c and when the pump took a crap, I just went and bought the idler pulley that bolted right into the original a/c pump position. Worked like a charm.

Wonder if it is that simple on the big blocks?

I'm not sure of anything :dunno:
I have a long block 396BBC that needs all the brackets, pulleys, and accessories...That serpentine drive kit isnt a bad deal considering it includes everything you need. I just dont want to order it and the thing end up not fitting...

I'm looking to do the same on a BBC I have sitting in my garage.

I took the kits and put there part numbers in an excel spreadsheet.

The only difference in part numbers is:

A/C kit has these extra parts:

01134343 1 Compressor Asm, A/C R4
10187612 1 Bracket-A/C Cm0pr
10187613 1 Bracket-A/C Cmpr

The Non A/C kit has this extra part:

10055890 1 Pulley, Idler

ALL OTHER PART NUMBERS ARE THE SAME.

The funny thing I did notice is that both kits come with two belts:

88986828 1 Belt, W/Pump and A/C Cmpr and Generator
88986813 1 Belt, Fan, W/Pmp, and A/C Cmpr

I don't think (that is usually my problem ;) ) that the external bolt holes are different between gen IV and V and VI BBC's, but I could be wrong. I think the differences are mostly internal with the newer blocks not having a fuel pump boss. If that is the case these kits should work for us.

My only concern is the A/C pump and brackets. My truck did not originally come with A/C so I will be putting a vintage air a/c unit on my truck. I am hoping that it can use the GM pump that comes with the kit or that the vintage air pump will bolt into the GM bracket.

If you find out for sure that it will/won't work, please let me know.

Chris
