Anybody running the BDS 2.5" front springs? I am up in the air between the TC EZ rides 3" or the BDS kit.

The BDS comes with Fox 2.0 shocks that appear to be made for BDS..not sure of quality.
Sdtrucksprings offers Bilstein 5160s with the EZ ride kits.

These will be for my DD Blazer with 33s. Just looking for the best ride and drive with an off the shelf kit.

Is it me, or is $645.00 seem excessive for a 2.5 inch lift kit?For that price it better be quality.

Well I can get the 2.5" BDS kit for about $810 with the Fox 2.0 shocks.
I can get the 3" TC kit with Bilsteins for $760

Can you get info from each about spring rates and which one has the softer springs?

There is a chart on here of 4" springs. The TCs are 295 IIRC. I know the BDS are soft as well. They are the top two riding off the shelf springs as far as I know.

Did some research, called BDS about some springs I found some interesting info that contradicts the spring rate table.
Here are the part numbers,
Part# Rate Vehicle
004402 – 550 Jeep J10 4 inch Stiffer later in travel more arch than 6 inch lift spring on a chevy more like 6-7 inch lift.
001401 – 575 Chevy front 4 inch Stiffer sooner in the travel
001551 – 550 Chevy front 6 inch stiffer later in travel. this is technically a 5.5 inch spring.

Those are big numbers!! The TC EZ rides are 295. Rough Country is 600.

I'm running the 2.5" BDS Springs with their basic shocks. I have no complaints, rides nothing like the dumptruck RC 4" kit I had on my k10.

Do you have a pic? Do you think it was an accurate 2.5" of lift?

2.5" is about right. The rear of my Blazer is a little low due to saggy OEM springs, so ignore that. 33/12.5/15 Tires

I wonder if he is comparing the rear spring rates. The CK5 table only lists 56" rear springs.

I helped Bix install 4" all spring BDS kit on his '90. I was happy with the kit, very complete and nothing junky IMO. The sway bar relocate brackets are well done too.

Ride on the 4" kit is quite good, much better than I expected to be honest. I equate spring thickness with ride, so when I saw the leaf thickness on the BDS springs I expected a harsh ride. That was not the case. Nick will tell you the rear is about 1/2" low...but he forgets we installed 1" longer front shackles when we did the lift. I haven't driven anything with the TC EZ ride lift...but just based on shock choice I'd go with the BDS and Foz 2.0 shocks. I think you'll be happy with either, but gooder shocks are the decision maker for me.

I've never seen or heard anything bad on the BDS springs. I tried to look up the Fox 2.0 shocks that come with the BDS kit and it seems they must be built by Fox for BDS or something. Don't see the PN listed anywhere else. They don't appear to be rebuildable shocks like I thought the 2.0s were.

@Deuling maybe you can help me out here. Fox shocks PN listed on the BDS website for their 2.5" kit is 98224620 and 98224629.

I really doubt those are rebuildable.

I'm not sure I would get an off the shelf length. I know your not gonna wheel this but it always bugs me when the shock is not where it should be. I.e. way too much shaft showing.

I would bet the foxs are slightly better than the bilsteins but I bet not much better

I wish i had splurged for the better shock option. But in the end being able to choose a custom shock with known travel will be better i think. I did notice i have damaged the passenger side, 5500 BDS shock that came with the lift. I could not collapse it all the way up anymore, and i have barely taken it off road yet so they are definitely not worth the coin.. Ive been wanting to splurge on some nice bilsteins, but not sure how to measure travel properly, to get the best shock available. Let me know if you get the fox ones and how they ride, I've only talked to guys running the rebuildable gas canistered ones.

I have installed a lot of lift kits over the years .

rough country can stay on the shelf . I have removed a lot of them for better. and there recent few years with ifs stuff so cheep there is a reason its cheep price . its garbage .

with that said tuff country / bds / zone ( bds budget brand ) is the 3 top kits I only play with . :saweet:

I have 3" hd tuff country in my plow truck . . . cause my plow alone tips the scales at over 800 lbs when I clip it to the truck . only drops 3/4 inch when lifted . but empty or plow on still rides nice. this is with 4 Monroe yellow body off the shelf shocks.

trying to finish up my buddys k30 we took out 6" rough country all spring lift . installed 4" tuff country hd front / stock 3/4 ton 2600 lb packs rear with 4" flip kit . and ord full grease poly suspension kit. just the bounce test in the shop is hands down 10x better.

Those are fox ifp alum body and you can rebuild them, they're a good option if you going to beat it up some. I talked to bds at length about their valving specs and all I could get was they're 30% stiffer.. It would be easy to take it apart and see..
