BDS springs

I can find out for you tomorrow if you want.

For sure man! I was going to message you as well and see if I could order the shocks that come with the 4" kit with the 2.5" springs. I havent reasearched the actual length differences yet, but like Eric said above "package kits" typically don't come with enough shock.

I wish i had splurged for the better shock option. But in the end being able to choose a custom shock with known travel will be better i think. I did notice i have damaged the passenger side, 5500 BDS shock that came with the lift. I could not collapse it all the way up anymore, and i have barely taken it off road yet so they are definitely not worth the coin.. Ive been wanting to splurge on some nice bilsteins, but not sure how to measure travel properly, to get the best shock available. Let me know if you get the fox ones and how they ride, I've only talked to guys running the rebuildable gas canistered ones.

The Bilsteins and Fox packaged with the kits I am looking at are comparable in price. This rig is definitely getting quality shocks.

Those are fox ifp alum body and you can rebuild them, they're a good option if you going to beat it up some. I talked to bds at length about their valving specs and all I could get was they're 30% stiffer.. It would be easy to take it apart and see..

Hmm that is good to know. I was assuming they weren't rebuildable. You think the 30% stiffer is a good thing? This rig isn't going to get wheeled hard or much at all. Sledding trips to the mountains, getting Christmas trees, camping trips, logging roads etc.

The stiffer isnt always bad if you load the rig down a bunch, the shocks definitely help, they are designed more towards heavier abuse. If it was me Id get a set of the proper length bilsteins from ORD with custom valving.. off the shelf stuff is just that.. and most lift shocks for 4 inch and below are around the 9-10 inch travel mark.. which is about the limit for stock stuff anyway, at least up front.

Go BDS. Awesome warranty and their quality is good for an off the shelf lift.
Fox owns BDS now (or the other way around) point is they're one in the same these days.
I bought a spendy BDS kit for my dodge to replace the RC lift in it now and the quality is good.

as a lift kit installer I have had a problem with bds and there other brand zone .

both times I called / explaned and sent pics . they overnighted me the part with a call tag for return no questions asked after that .

nice people and product.

How about bds vs. Going alcan for ride quality? Is the extra cost of Alcans worth it compared to bds or tc ez rides? I want to redo the suspension on my k5 and get the ride quality up much higher than it is now with pro comp springs with crappy quad shocks up front. My lift height is 6".

I have ridden and driven a couple rigs with good shocks well set up with the tuff country ez rides.

I have also driven 2 with ORD springs.

I would pick the ORD springs without question

Yea I agree too, Bds is about the best off shelf spring but Alcan/ORD/Deaver is another league in their own.. Apples to orange..
