But I did stay at a Holiday Inn express last night........
Looks cold. not enough amperage. no penetration. cold weld lays on top like that.

so hey, got a question. since dirty dingo is such low quality, and you don't want to use low quality engine mounts to hold in a 6.0 v8, is there a recommended company that makes higher quality engine mounts?

not saying stuff is low quality . just the crappy welds that might break sooner than a good weld. and his customer service sucks big time on the phone.
i will say it i like the design of the mounts being adjustable . he just needs to get his head out of his a$$ and get someone that can weld.
otherwise i havent seen anything close to there idea . but havent looked much .

To be honest these mounts look kinda wimpy. Id make the tabs wider and gusset them a little better, not to mention that my welds look sooo much better than that.
So if you guys still haven't found a better quality part / customer support person to make these, then I would like to offer my services. I can match his price 100 bucks and give a much stronger product. I just need measurements as I haven't gotten to do the swap on my k10 yet or I would already have them.
I usually make oldschool Vw parts but id love to get in on the 4wd market. I have a Cnc plasma that I built myself and here is a link to the Vw stuff I make..not trying to sell Vw parts just showing what im capable of.

Those are not quality welds. He's got NO motion in his pass, thus the cold weld. Anyway does the adjustable slot near the "notching" worry anyone else? Not very much metal there at all.
i would also like to see the ear's on the tabs were it sits on the center bolt threw the mount so it sits like factory and not on just the 1 bolt.
and these mounts are thick so the thinner area by the slots is still thick stuff. have to do that to be adjustable and clear a/c tabs cast in the block.

if so i would swap mine out in half a heart beat. 
Looks like he has his wire speed up to high. IE crap ton of weld material piled up and thus making him move way to fast to put the heat in.
My thought is that they don't have a powerful enough welding machine to penetrate the steel. I've used the portable 220v machines, and that's what the welds look like when you're trying to dig into some 1/4"+ material.
Hey guys, After reading your comments, I was very leary of these mounts. I really needed them though, and I like the idea of being able to adjust them (slide the engine forward or back). So, I went ahead and "rolled the dice" and ordered a set of Dirty Dingos for my 86 K5. They just now came in the mail, and I am very happy to report they have changed the design. Welds are no longer a concern. They appear to be one solid piece of metal. They are still water jet cut, and bent to bolt to the motor mount isolators. Here, take a look... 
if so i would swap mine out in half a heart beat.

Am I missing something here? This thread is based on the shotty welds on motor mounts by Dirty Dingo. I'm just letting you guys know that problem has been corrected. Technically anyone can make a motor mount, myself included. It's just easier sometimes to order some of this stuff. There's lots of places to order mounts from, so don't be offended if I don't order from you or your cousin. I'm not promoting Dirty Dingo... I'm just spreading the word about this weld issue. Just say'n...

but my problem with those now is the sloted hole for the main bolt to mount on frame. there is so much slop in the stock stuff this just ad's more room for miss alignment. but each to there own i guess.
and why couldnt he make them with ear's to catch the tabs on the factory mounts design and not rest 100% on the main bolt . ?
but as said glad to see this thread has helped others and let you make a informed decision .
and deuling reread my post . i said IF HE HAD BEEN MAKING them i would have got his. but at this point my driveline is set and bolted in frame and holes drilled and crossmember bolted in place.

Great we have gone from crappy welds to crappy design. Why not stick with the design they had and hire a Decent welder?? Now this design is probably worse than the previous with bad welds.
The Red circles show were the end points of the cut, these pts ARE going to cause the metal to rip/crack. The red lines show were the metal will fatigue and eventually rip/crack. The blue lines are were the uprights were bent. Since they were bent they are likely to bend again, one direction or the other. This design change took out the gusset that kept the uprights from bending...bad idea
In this picture the red circles are showing were cutting out that upright has left the base plate very weak and could possibly bend.

This is a set set i made for a guy on here and this is the only pic i have of them. Mine obviously have good welds, bigger gusset, the uprights are wider for more strength. The big cutout on the end wont be there on any others i make, Just a few speed holes, cause they add 5HP each right?? LOL
