Has anyone tried the internal bead locks from staun? or even something similar? I'm considering trying them but would like someone's opinion who has actually used them or know of someone. Peterson's really likes em...

I've had them for years and I like them....

You can give Stephen a call here @ ORD. He ran them with his H2 wheels, so he can give you some real world feed back.

Sounds good! I'll give him a call after we get through the holidays.. not lookin to order them until them anyway... My closest distributor is 4wheel parts, anyone know somewhere you can get a better deal? they tend to be proud of their items.

Thanks!!!

We sell them and they work great. The nice thing is they lock both beads instead of just the outside. Me personally, I would run them before a weld on beadlock.

What size wheel are you trying to fit them on.... 15", 16.5" ???

I might have a cheap(er) solution for you.

Running a 16.5.. not sure on the width... 19.5" boggers are on em now...

I like the idea of the inside and outside being locked, I also like the idea of zero psi not puttin the tire between the rim and the ground.. not that I'd actually run zero, but ya get my point...

What solution did you have in mind? (always looking for alternatives to spending so much of my hard earned cash)

There's a chance that I'll be selling a complete set (Qty 5) TireLoc internal beadlocks in the near future. TireLoc was the original design that Staun is based on...

Kevlar bags, innertubes, air diverting valves...the whole shebang.

I'm thinking about moving to a Hutchinson beadlock system, but haven't decided yet.

Only problem with the Hutchinson rims unless they have changed their design to allow any tire is you can ONLY run one tire, the one you send them that they make the rim contour to. I was looking at buying them before I had my Weld Super Single II's beadlocked by OMF. Had cash in hand and was talking with them back and forth ready to do it. But when I was told what ever tire I wanted to run, I would have to send them one tire and they would make the rim match that tire and I could only then run that tire, I changed my mind.

The idea of a duel bead lock is of course the best possible beadlock, whether it be Staun type or PVC pinch type Hutchinson. But ring type beadlocks are a totally prooven design for thousands of wheelers over decades of hard core use. It's not very ofter you break an inner bead. You burp it more then likely befor poping it. There cheaper usually, fairly easy to mount the tires yourself. If my 155lb skinny ass can mount 38's anybody can.

Not saying you should go out and buy ring type and their the best, there not. But, don't discredit them, there awesome. I have herd the Stauns are a PITA to mount, if you do it wrong you can pinch them and damage the tube, then your screwed. IF you seriously cut a tire and HAD to change a tire on the trail, a ring type is going to be easier then a Staun by alot. Hutchinsons are easy to mount, but if your stuck with running ONLY that tire, that sucks ass. There are pros and cons to everything and every type of beadlock. I did read the stauns don't allow the tire when deflated to real low pressure to roll to the side or squish around as bad as a regular beadlock, its got something in there to physically stop it from doing so. Read is helped give better control on the rocks by one driver who tried them. I just didn't want to deal with the mounting difficulties of mounting them so I had my Weld's ringed instead. I think simplicity and versitility wins over total funtion here. Simplicity of mounting, versitility of tire selection. And as far as funtion, rings work 98% out of 100% compared to duels IMHO. If your only worried about funtion only, then duels all the way. just my .02 cents.
