He wants it all removable, and he is going to add all the dzus fasteners. The customer may end up having it all powder coated, so that is why removable.

Yeah, not skimping on details. No Zip Ties on this one. ;)

And on a side note...

I ended up getting ready to buy a house, got approved for a loan, and she decided she wasn't ready, and wants to peruse her dream of competitive weight lifting.

It was the most fun with a girl I have ever had and ill never regret it, but it was hard, and I'm honestly glad now that I don't have to deal with all the BS, and the knots in my stomach anymore. Self absorbed people and I do not mix well.

I took off work a few days last week, beat the piss out of my blazer, and worked in the garage as much as I could, and chopped my hair off.

This Thursday will mark 1 year, from the first day I touched a beadroller.
If I managed to come this far in 365 days, while also spending TONS of time and money on a girl, im excited to see where I am in another year.

Cheers Bitches.

At least you found out now, not later after the papers were signed......Your young, life moves on.

Aluminum is difficult, its so soft and not much between everything going great and it falling out on you. It might be because you can't see, you don't need to have the tungsten buried in the cup with that gas lens. Or is that not a gas lens, it looks like a gas lens style cup? If that isn't a gas lens then you may have the wrong style cup on there. With a typical cup the rule of thumb for stickout is 1/2 the width of the cup opening. But with a gas lens you can push it further. For aluminum I really like the gas lens, or sometimes the pyrex cup. But even after you think you got it, and then you don't get much practice for a while and the next time you start off poorly. The good thing about TIG is you can reflow it without adding filler if you screw it up. Just don't do it too much because it still adds heat and can warp more every time.

But once you get aluminum down, when you go back to steel it seems so easy! I am sure you will get even better, you always do, keep at it, you are doing great!

Did you start on the car interior yet?

It is a gas lens kit.

I bought the setup and put it on right away because I was told they are far superior.

Nope. Have not heard from him about a deliver date yet. So im currently trying to make lots of things for xmas gifts etc that people want before it gets here.

With a gas lens you can stick it out further, the ID of the cup easy. Check out tip #14...

Be careful, I have had cheap gas lenses give uneven flow patterns and only cover one side, of course it was lots of cussing and rework until I figured out the problem was a faulty gas lens. I like the gas lens definitely, but get quality pieces or it will cost you more money in time.

You are doing good I am just trying to help you do even better. The gas coverage looks fine, and the weld flow looks pretty good, it's just a little wavy and a little cratering because you need to dab the filler a little more often (you might need smaller filler diameter for the material thickness).

Don't take it the wrong way, you are doing great, I am always trying to improve myself too. Even when I am happy with it there is always room for improvement.

Its easier to see if you stick the tungsten out a little more, which you can do with a gas lens, and you will get even better.

I look forward to seeing what you do with that car, you have some excellent "skilz" Adam! And they are only getting better, keep it up!

I wouldn't be surprised if you were giving me TIG tips some day, and at the rate you are going it will probably happen!

Ill stick it out a bit further. That will probably help.

Side note, I did these vertical. Vertical is hard.

Yeah, eventually. When she has some spare cash ill wire it. Or her husband can when he gets it for xmas.

I already have like 8 hours into it, and priced it for 4 lol. But that's partially my own doing for welding 3" corner seams for my first real aluminum welding job that I didn't grind off.

Killer job Adam. Getting your table setup nicely. So I'm about ready to pull the trigger on the same setup bead roller. Any suggestions? Getting pretty much the same setup you've developed. Granted I'm well behind with rolling skills. since I have the material already cut up and mostly ready to go, I'm still going to weld up my own English wheel. Will be a fun project to do. I'll take any pointers you're willing to share, appreciated.

Don't get the one with the stand, its a wobbly POS that you pay like $250 extra for. Build something that is heavy and sturdy.

Get a decent light to use on top of it.

Get the Jamey Jordan art roll kit if you are using soft aluminum and you will be good to go. http://www.mittlerbros.com/art-step-roll-kit.html

Or just make your own dies for it. If I had a lathe, Id have made a million dies by now.

One thing I would consider though rob, is that you can get the High Throat roller, and they make a kit to adapt on to use the standard roller dies. But this would also give you the option to roll bigger stuff, possibly with flanges already on it. It just suggests a lighter gauge. Just something to think about though. I have bent flanges on stuff, and then wanted to do some work later to realize it no longer fits in the machine.

Ive got 2 hours into 3 passes with different die setups on the words last night on this.

It wouldn't take so long on a smaller panel, but this thing is 36"x24" so spinning that around gets awkward.

Trying to figure out the best way to make the stream look real. It looks like a sperm right now.

It looks pretty good I think, those letters had to be really tricky! I am horrible at art. Can you run it off the edge the border so it doesn't end in the panel on both ends? If it travels on and then off the edge then it may look more like a stream instead of a half pond half stream. Although I think the close end is more important that it go off the edge.

I probably should have, but its a bit late now haha.

Yeah those words took a long time. I like how I got them to be so bubbly instead of just an angle around the edges. That's where the die set changes and playing with pressure changes with one hand while spinning with the other come into play.
