Beag's 67 Chevelle. Supercharged Summer

Just for @max 02 .
Bolts and spacers and bushings I needed from ridetech came in.
Finished putting the spindles together and painted them up.
Tightened the spindle nuts down until it stripped out. Then backed it off until I the cotter pin went in. Tight is tight, eh?

Finished wiring on the bat-tree.

And Mounted the EFI. Was kinda looking for a good way to pound a square peg in a round hole. Or a flat ecu on a round fender. I didn't really have much of an idea for this. Then I remembered when I was riding my 400ex and crashed it into a cactus in Penrose Co. I broke a bunch of stuff and I found these little nylon spacers that I used for fixing the ex back up. I thought these would make perfect stand offs.
So I picked up a few on a run to get charcoal. I got some rubber bushings as well. Have no idea if that was necessary but it sure seemed like something gm would do. Got some flanged bolts and bolted it down. View attachment 343941
Thought it turned out fine.

Tonight, I tested the fuel system for leaks.
All my an lines tested good but the fast fuel pressure regulator housing leaked.
Annoying but easy fix. Tighting the housing screws seemed to do it.

Made a nice ground hardness for the fuel pump and sending unit.
All wiring I ran was loomed up and shrink-wrapped.

Oh yeah, when I ate it over that stupid cactus. I got cactus needles up and down my whole stomach and chest.
Had to go back take a few shots of whiskey at camp while my wife pulled them out with a Leatherman.
Good times.

10-4 good buddy.

I C
Way better with pics! Nice work Brian!

Good story about the Cactus! Lol!
I was riding with a buddy that biffed it into a patch of stinging nettles! His KDX 200 was on top of him! I was laughing so hard it took me a bit before I could help get the bike off him! Lol!

We had been riding up in the mountains most of the morning it was midday and we decided to head back down to camp for the day. We came down into a flat area that was wide open. Lots of track and donuts marks.
My wife pulled up beside me as I came to stop. I said " watch this" and proceeded to pop a huge wheelie. Rode that bitch for about 150-175 feet (not hard with a 400ex.) When I started veering off the trail. I noticed a large what I believe they call a mountain ball cactus.
Coming up fast, I tried to get the front end down,. But it was to late. I nailed it with the back tire and it flipped me over.
Yep. Crashed into a cactus on flat ground because I was showing off for my then girlfriend now wife.
The cactus needles hurt.
My pride hurt more.

Hahaha! Never say “Watch this”
Always turns bad!

This one is right out of the ck5 playbook.
Since I have been in a bit a rhythm wiring things up. I decided that my nylon spacers deal would be good to mount the blue sea systems power distribution block.
Sweet little deal with switched power and constant power. I'll use this block to power my line lock, a electric fans. (Relay off the EFI for a trigger) a cigarette lighter (more on that in a minute) and any other 12 volt accessory's I might need down the road.

So my question is, and I know @folkenheath has the same Hurst roll control as I picked up. Do I run the roll control off the switched or constant power?
Seems like the switched would make the most sense. But does it really matter?

Was going to fire the car tonight until I realized that you set it up the initial programming you need a cigarette lighter outlet. Well of course mine isn't even in the car anymore.
Kinda a buzzkill. How many of these kit EFI make it on to old jalopies that would have this problem. Seems stupid to me. You should get a plug with some alligator clips to clip on to 12v. My .02.
Amazon already shipped a little aftermarket cigarette lighter panel with a couple USBs. To charge my phone. Seems like a simple no brainier to update that aspect of the car.

You'll get there soon.
I'm close. But I'm not killing myself getting it done either. I could find more time after my little one goes down every night. But I don't want it to break down once on the road. A little patience now will give me (hopefully) more trouble free cruising down the Rd.

I run it off of a relay and I think the relay has battery power and then I send the same signal to the relay and the ECU for the burnout rev limiter. But it doesn't really matter as long as it gets power when you want it to and the wire is fused correctly.

If you want to fire the car just use some jumper wires to the lighter socket.

I worded it wrong, I meant to the lighter plug, from the battery to the lighter plug on the handheld, since you don't have a socket in your car.
I very briefly had that thought. I went looking for my alligator clip leads I built years ago, but I don't know where I lost them to.
When I looked in my box and didn't see them I forgot about it and went back to work on other things. If my new part shows tomorrow I'll do it the right way. If not I'll build some new jumpers. I do have some alligator clips in my box.

Get your phone fixed?

Yay for pics! Good progess man! Do take your time. Looks good!
No. It's three years old. (That's kinda a record for me) I'm hard on my phones.
Here's a story for you.

Back in the early 2000s I was out chiselplowing I always left my phone up by the wing windows. Well I smoked back then and one night while I was finishing up I cracked open the wing window for a smoke.
When I pulled back into the farm and shut-her down for the night my phone was gone.
After a full run down of the tractor I knew it had bounced out the window.
Grabbed another phone and walked around the field roughly where I was plowing when I cracked the window.
After 20 minutes or so i heard some muffled ringing and was able to dig it up.
It worked but the buttons wouldn't push in easily.
So I took it in to have it fixed. After 15-20 minutes in the store the guy came back with my phone and a pile of dirt on a sheet on paper.
(Now this is the BEST part) he said to me-
" I don't think you could have gotten any more dirt inside this, then if you had plowed it Into the ground!"

I just looked at him and said well as of matter of fact I did!

The look on that guys face was pure gold!

:haha: That’s funny!

I had to look up chisel plowing... My family hasn't been farmers for 70 years or so.. lol
Chisel plowing as a practice has been phased out over the last 10 to 15 years.

The government has been pushing no till. And the equipment manufacturers have stepped up to the game with lots more in no-till equipment.

in the 80s and 90s my family used to have to hire somebody to help get field work done in the spring and fall.

With modern-day no-till practices, it's basically harvesting the corn and replant in the spring. Less manpower, less diesel fuel, less tractor repair cost,.....

No wimpy chisel plowing for me. Moldboard for the win! Except the old Masey 285 needs some weight up front, the 3 bottom is a bit much sunk all the way in unplowed ground.
