Beag's 67 Chevelle. Supercharged Summer

Car runs.

Messed around last night and couldn't get it fired.
Thought about it today and decided not to overthink it and start at the basics.
Got home and tested spark. Nothing.

Luckily I had a complete HEI rebuild kit on the shelf if I needed it.
Ohmn'ed the coil and tested the hei module. Module was shot.
Buttoned it up and proceeded to run through the EFI wizard and got the car started.
Then I realized I'm an idiot.
Fuel pressure regulator still leaking.
Looks like I got the wrong AN fittings.
Guess that will be a 3 fitting lesson to read the directions before you order parts.


Back to suspension stuff this weekend. While I wait for some more stuff.


Oh yeah. Open headers are still fun.:rotfl:

Anyone ever wrap a brake line with a heat resistant material?
Worrying my header might cook my passenger side brake fluid.
Worry? Try some sort of heat wrap/reflective material? Or send it like Larry Enticer after a 30 pack of Busch?

That looks a little tight. Can the line be re run even if it makes it longer?

I'd think that before it boiled it may expand and drag that brake some too.
 
I took a horrible picture. There is more room then that.
These brake lines are factory replacements.
So and the headers are drastically different. So it basically the same set up as that was on the car before.

All that said.... I am still concerned.

That gap is probably 3/16-1/4" with my calibrated eyeball.
 
Can it be pulled over to the right about 3" so it sits more in between tubes? You could gain some valuable air space that way...

I would do something
 
It may be where the factory lines ran. But I'd still re route it. Run a new one if that one won't move.
 
When I did all the front suspension on mine I moved the hard line for that same reason.
 
I know underhood heat affects the brakes in my 66. I'd be concerned about yours.
 
I’ll try get a picture tomorrow, but it runs along the top of the frame farther forward and then comes down in front of header and then back towards the back of the engine cross member if that makes sense.

I have a line that close on the Iron Maiden, and I wrapped it in DEI reflective wrap, no issues ever.

Decided I'll order some heat wrap for the brake line.
Then I take some stainless sheet I have and build a heatshield for it.
Then I'm just going to send it.

Knocked out a bunch of brake stuff today. Hit the shop early this morning and knocked out 3 hours of work. Then I had a little kid party all day and I got back at it tonight. Bench bled the master and popped that on.
Everything else was running brake lines and all little miscellaneous crap with that.

I think the heat shield will be most beneficial. You could even add reflective material to that.

A heat shield works better with air circulating behind it, so not sure if there is enough space to insulate and have a shield.
I would go with a shield in this situation

Would be no different then the tin heat shields gm put on exhaust manifolds for spark plugs.
They figured it did enough to put it on millions of cars and trucks......
I will take Scott's suggestion and do that. It was something I was tossing around in my head anyway.

My comment was on your post and agreeing with Scott.
You mentioned a wrap, the space you have is not enough.
