I need to know which points on the frame to measure from so that I can determine the bed length? The truck is a 94 chevy 1-ton that currently has a western hauler bed. Thanks for the help.

do the wheel base. this is best as some are cab chassie and thay moved the axle on some. the axle might be in the wrong place if you put on a box.

center of front tire like the spindle to center of the rear will get you wheel base spec. post up and we will help ya.

From what I can tell the wheel base is about 135-136"s after several measurements. According to the vin, the truck was a cab and chassie.

Id like to get my hands on those 80's wreckers and cab/chassis and put a long bed on there. They are sweet because the 14ff is narrow and the dually fits under the stock bed for a trick look. The wheelbase is 3" longer than a stock 8' bed so you need to cut up two beds and do a little weld/bondo work to make it look stock. When they are done they look sweet though!

I dont have pics but I will try to get some tomorrow. A friend of mine here in portland CT did this and his truck is very nice and very tuff. The bed will fit and yes the space between the cab and bed will be 3 inches wider.

The frame shape is really quite different between the pickup and C&C. It wouldn't surprise me if the bed and cab end up at different heights :eek1:

Check out the frame diagram at the bottom:

EDIT: Note the axle widths also... looks like the C&C axle might be wider than in the 73-87 trucks.
