BENDER stays in hibernation with me

checked oil pressure with a mechanical gauge, checks good. Bought and installed a new Autometer sending unit. Haven't started it yet though, I need to change some things on the FAST system. Damn thing keeps complaining about the O2 Sensor and communications error. I got some ideas from FAST, just need to try them.

Also working on my seats. I'm having a blast welding with my new argon tank. The welds are so much nicer looking and easy to flow. I can still burn a hole in the stuff I'm working on too :) I'd have the seats done by now if it wasn't so damn hot outside, but I've got cooler temps coming.

bought a warn vr12k winch, waiting for arrival. Also bought two DieHard AGM batteries to replace my mismatched dual battery setup. I think my yellow top Optima is crapping out. My Wallmart MAXX battery is still good though, might throw that in the family boat. Sears has "buy $350+ and get $35 off of an online order". Got both batteries for $435, 4 year warranty, easy store pickup.

Here's to trying an AGM battery NOT made by Johnson.

Got my driver's seat installed :woot: It doesn't move but who cares, it's perfect for me. I elected to mount it a little lower to get as much head room (with cage) as possible. I can still see over the hood just fine and hang out the door ok as well. Throwing the tube doors on would make things perfect. The passenger side seat came with working sliders, so that's a plus for rear access. I've got that side about half done. The seat might end up about even or ~1/2" lower than the driver seat, but really, does the passenger need to see over the hood? No :D which just gives them even more head room and a scarier ride :woot: I can't wait to have both in, the passenger side is going to be perfect with the sliders, I'm really happy about that. Even the plastic molding, with a little trimming, is perfect. Seats are from a ~2002 WRX

Also, I love welding!!!!!:waytogo:

Good progress on the interior. Let us know how that new Warn winch does. From what I can tell, it's a good bit slower than most Warns, but it's also a good bit less expensive too.

Dude those seats look brand new. They must have lived under a seat cover. I put some seats from a '95 Firebird in my truck and I'd have to say that's one of the best things I ever did to it.

What's that thing under your steering wheel? Is that the anti-theft thing that lets you take the steering wheel off real quick? How do you like it? It looks like it would block the gauges pretty bad.

Also, Optima batteries have gone way downhill the past few years. Most guys have swapped to either the Wal Mart gel batteries or the Odysseys.

Nice work! Why did you opt for the WRX seats? Something specific? Or they just landed with you and you rolled with them?
I just scored some seats too. (will post on my own thread)
I've had an optima for about 4 years, no complaints. But I have heard other guys having trouble with them. Maybe its a hit or miss thing.

I always get Optimas that have been reconditioned by a local shop. The first one I got from them worked for about a week, but when the temp dropped and it started snowing, the battery was REALLY weak. Wouldn't start the engine, run the winch or nothing. I look at the top of it and there was a huge bulge under the positive terminal. I took it back to them and they gave me what looked like a brand new one and I've had it ever since. That was in Feb. of 2009. It's a red top.

Andyblack: The winch is weeks away, but you bet your ass I'm ready to test it. I bought the seats off CL. They look really good except some of the material is rough, like maybe to guys wallet did it :dunno:. The steering column thing is just a clasp that covers the ignition. The key is on top, turn it, and it splits in half to take off. Good, thick steel. :waytogo: Just an added "deterrent"

Mpio: I looked for easy to mount, small, high bolstering, cheap seats on CL. Picked them up for $100, not quite a steal, but better than others I've seen, including junkyard ones and I didn't have to unbolt them. I have a red top optima in my DD, running about 5-6 years now, BUT it's not under much strain. :dunno:

Both seats = done :woot: However, I need to tweak the passenger seat some. I bought them knowing the passenger side had a bent back, like some fatass fell on it trying to get out from the back seat. :doah:

Some winch goodies and some steering goodies :D

Interior looks really nice and clean. What are you trying to do - shame the rest of us out? Now we're going to be embarassed to post any pics of the inside of our rides. :D

Where did you get that collar over the steering column from? I may want me something like that.

Thanks man! I can't wait to get it dirty:woot: The column lock says "American Auto Accessories" on it. I bought it from a member here, he had a few. Maybe "thatk30guy".

Made up a mount for the PS reservoir. Took some 16ga sheet metal and folded/welded it until there was a mount. :D Got the cooler mounted also. I just need to change some of the fittings to finish her up. Then on to the ram :doah:

I hope my OCD doesn't get the best of me and change the mount. It was the only way I could get comfortable hood clearance and keep it directly over the pump. 1/2-1" is all I got, the hose might rub.

Showoff!! :woot:

The praying mantis is a good omen. I don't remember exactly what it means but it's a good thing. :D

One time I caught a big green one like that and it stabbed its claws into my finger and wouldn't let go. That junk hurt too! I remember there was blood running all down my finger and stuff. From then on I just looked at them and left them alone.

yeah, I don't know much about them. They shake a lot when walking, they're not very graceful, like their cartoon/movie counterparts. I shined my LED flashlight at him, then focused it right on him. He turned his head slowly and down, like to say "ouuuuuuuch, you son of a bitch". I couldn't help but laugh, it was perfect.

About 90% done on the hydro assist, just missing the tierod mount.

Rezzy and pump. The cooler is up front.

Almost finished ram mounts. The hoses aren't touching anything, except the frame with zip ties. :) I had to cut most of my factory steering stabilizer mount off, but there is a little left with a hole already in it. I plan to use that for some kind of skid protection for the ram.

Interesting setup. This may be a dumb question, but why does the resevoir have to be so high up like that? Will it not work unless it's up high or something? And what's that hose coming out of the front axle and going up into the engine bay? An extended breather hose?

Inquiring minds want to know, dang it.

The reservoir needs to be above the pump, which is already high. The hose should be as straight/vertical as possible, since it's gravity/suction fed. In the instructions it warns you with pictures of many incorrect possibilities. My core support/fender area is already taken by other things, so hanging off the alternator was the next best place. I may change it down the road if it causes problems. I'm not real keen on the hose and am worried once it gets hot, it might suction closed and starve the pump. Some hardline/couple inches of hose might be in order. :)

Yes, it's an axle breather. Stock came up to about the carbon canister. I just added hose from the steel line on the frame and mounted the end at radiator cap level. :D I put loops in the rear breather line, to help keep water out. The trans and T case are something I still need to extend.

I got it!!
This hobby is like ......chasing my own tail, catching it, finding out it's a Rattlesnake, getting bit, going to the hospital where the doctor gives me a prescription to "chase my tail until caught". :doah::haha:
