BENDER stays in hibernation with me

Pics and info on mirrors

When I get the truck back and door skin done, I'll have more pictures.

After work I'll find the eBay auction for the mirrors. There are probably hundreds of sellers though, but at least you'll know these are QUALITY mirrors. I really like them, especially the fact that the bottom convex mirror is 2 way adjustable. My Dad's 06 CCLB isn't 2 way!

And yes, these mirrors are for the '06 body styles.

My poor truck. :( All alone in storage while I work on the C10. Oh yeah, and it wasn't leaking from the clocking ring. Seems it was blowing it out the vent. The trans level is good, so it wasn't pushing into the T-case. I'm not sure what happened but a long hose was added and time will tell.

here is the Ebay link to the mirrors and the seller's name. I don't see them available through this guy but I'm sure a nice message would change that. Otherwise, try to find another auction with the same mirrors. You have to look closely at the base and pivot, some are slightly different. I can only comment on the ones I got and they are the cat's meow. :D

Grabbed my blazer today, will be driving it for the next week probably while my S10 gets some work done.

I haven't finished the doors yet, still need to continue the skin up to the mirror and paint it. The carrier just needs pull pins for the upper bushings and paint. Here are some pictures for now.

The tire carrier came out perfect. My spare is slightly smaller than my regular tires. With a regular tire on it, it sits perfect next to the gate. About 1" off of it. So unfortunately, with the spare in place, it looks a bit big. But if it was closer, the regular tire wouldn't fit. :doah:

I worked on the mirrors with the guy that did my roll cage. I think they turned out awesome. Was even able to tuck the mount between the bars some. The plastic is not flush with the metal part of the mirror, so we set the door side piece into the tubes a little. So much better than the motorcycle mirrors and even the stock Chevy mirrors. I'm not worried about missing a car on the side of me anymore :woot:

Nice work on the mirrors!! Look really good.

Now you can see those pesky Corvettes and Miatas when they insist on riding in your (former) blind spot. :thumb:

Thanks guys! Feels good driving it again. It's been a while. lol and now I'm remembering all those things I've been putting off when it went into storage. :doah: Today I found the dipstick about 1" out of the tube. Pushed it down and it felt like I was bending it (never noticed that before) AND the crank was smacking it :dunno:. I don't remember having any of those problems. WTF?!

yeah, I have no idea how to remedy that. It was a stock replacement stick (though chromed), in a stock tube.

Just something to add to the list.

Fix dipstick
extend front upper shock mounts
Build rear upper shock mounts and get longer shocks
get slower valved shocks (front seems to bounce on the freeway with D60 now, back likes to sway a bit)
Rip dash out and clean up all unnecessary wiring (no more electric windows/doors)
Remove DIY4x A/C ducting (no longer have A/C) Might go with an afermarket heater for defrost and floor vents
Fix gauge lights while doing wiring

Video from Sunday. Trying to finish the second half for another video soon. I fast forwarded it through some of the driving. Also, it's not all shot from the windshield. Skip some for the hand held part.

This video shows the rock face better. I haven't seen but one vehicle make it over. Not many try, move trucks that come out to Azusa Canyon are built only for mud. I plan to return for a second round but without my toolbox, spare, rear passenger, and bench seat. Should see 500+lbs off the back half of the truck. (not my video)

This also isn't my video but it kinda shows what went on this weekend. It was a surprise to me to see the course open. Damn thing is always closed. Timed and coned, was pretty cool. I should have entered but I was already tired and didn't have a helmet. There was a stock, stock modified, and open class. I would have tried modified, you see the truck doing part of the course.

Looks like a good time for sure. I thought you were going over backwards on that steep rock face. And I always thought that Azusa was just one huge mud hole.

I love the related videos it gave you - "Breastfeeding the Baby" by The LaVigne Life. :haha:

*I'm going to feel stupid if you say that's your wife in the video. If that's the case, tell her I said she did a good job!

Very awesome work, I just read your whole build start to finish and stole plenty of your ideas, what a cool transformation. I was more into motorcycle track days when I was stationed out there but it does look like some fun wheeling
