Best 14FF diff cover?

Rockcrusher, not too pricey and plenty thick. Like everyone said.. just pick one you like, and costs what you want to pay.

If you dent a thick cover in far enough to contact the ring gear.. you'll probably have plenty of other carnage to deal with anyway... so it won't really be an "issue"... not that it's likely to happen.

The only real issue that covers protect against, are being dented in far enough to contact the ring gear, or being peeled away from the diff housing.

If you need something beffier than that.. then you either got the overkill blues.. or ya need to stop driving by brail.

If your worried about being thorough Then you should pop the cover anyway.

That's what I've been doing for years now. I is getting older, getting tired faster.
I'd really like to be able to just pop a drain plug open to get the diff drained and save alot of time. Also, the wife doesn't like it when I take time out from family stuff to do 'maintenance' on a toy which I should sell because it uses too much gas, takes time away from the family, costs money.....blah, blah, blah...

Reminds me of one of the world's greatest stories.....A young man asked a young woman to marry him, she said no, and he lived happily ever after.
Lots of times I think that story is true.
Wish I was a young man again.

Another vote for DIY4X razorbacks have em for my 14 bolt and my 60. Quality products and quality service.

I've got a GLO D60 front cover & a DIY4x razorback 14bolt cover both very beefy.........................but no diffs to put them on now

I have a crane high clearance on the front of mine and there really is no better cover made. Its cast out of 4340 chromoly and is a good looking design to boot.

Most of the covers on the market are pretty much bulletproof so go with the one that fits your wallet and/or looks right.

Ive seen one break. The casting is more brittle. It didnt dent, it just smashed right through

Crane was the best of the cast covers out there with the poured Chromo but they went bankrupt 2 months ago.......I am sorry about that, they were good alternative competition, But personally I have a favorite. BTW, a DP in the lowest point makes no sense on a crawler, works fine with mud but stay away from the rocks.........

I first bought a MOO 14FF years ago, its still sitting in the garage, then I bought a Crane 14FF to run under my K5, the last cover I bought was for my D60 and was a Gravel Maker. no heavier duty cover on the market period. as said before though, there are alot of good one's out there. I have seen a 1/2 in thick flanged 14FF cover before but that rediculous.

if I ever break my Crane 14FF cover I will get a Gravel Maker to replace it.

First off I should say that I don't personally believe in mounting the Ram to the cover, many rams can put out more than 4000lbs of force and that will be a constant force from the sides on any bolt and bolts simply aren't meant to take those kind of forces from the side.

Now that I have gotten off of my soapbox.....If ANY cover is strong enough for a ram this is the one, these are made of A50 (actually A536) plate for the steel wizards out there. It is also the only cover made (as far as I can find) where the shell is entirely of 3/8" and 1 piece at that. These are all welded inside and out, every seam. The countersunk bolts are Grade 8 and the 82 degree angle provide greater surface area contact with the cover making for a tighter fit. I might add that these are also the only covers we know of that are machined flat after welding. Lets face it, steel moves when welded.......

Combine that with the price and you will agree these are not only the best covers made but the most fairly priced when you consider the standards they are made to. And quite a bit more ready for a ram than any cover out there despite my feelings on mounting it there.

I just ordered some GLO covers w/drain plug, counterbored, and 1/2 midsection extra webbing. I'll post up when they arrive and let you know how nice it is to easily drain my diffs .
