My rear window motor was weak and it froze on me during last weeks snow when I needed it to work. Finally spent the 80 bucks (plus core) for a new Cardone motor at the local CarQuest. 20min. later, WOW! What a difference. I'll see how long it lasts and keep everyone updated.

Save the receipt. I've been seeing a lot of cardone failure this past few years.

And check the square end where the cable goes. Have had a couple round instead of square to accept the cable. They were just worn out and the guy rebuilding it didn't check it

Yeah I've heard some bad press on the units. I will keep the forum posted on how long it lasts. As far as replacing the unit. It took about ten minutes, most of that was unscrewing the panel on the tailgate.

Picking one up later from orileys. Gonna check the square end and save my receipt. My current one is a rebuilder and won't work but good shape, how hard are they to rebuild? I don't wanna send it in for a core and lose one that's in good shape.

Quick update. Had the cardone unit for about three weeks now. The motor draws a lot of power when switched on. The motor is still weak when cold but does manage to get the window down. It has slowed down some since I first put it in. I have silicone sprayed the moulding etc.... and its still a little slow. I will give it until fall when it gets cold again to post again how its doing. So far, my first impressions have fallen some.

You should really clean and grease the regulator and stuff somewhat soon. I did on my '90, and even with the temps in the low teens and an old window motor is goes up and down pretty decently.

Greased everything and put a cable lube device from my motocross bike on the cable and shot WD=40 down it. Still the same. Next I am going to buy new sash, felt and window keeper thing. See what that does.
