What do you guys prefer on the lower end of the automotive battery scale?

I need to buy 2 for a mild trail rig/ daily driver. Don't have a ton of money was just wondering what every one has had good success with

As much as I hate walmart that's what I suggest lol. They take everything back

For my daily driver I use Interstate. They have a Econo-plus which is a reconditioned battery. I have got about 2 years out of each of the two that I bought. Not bad for $25 a piece.

Wallyworld ( Everlast ?? ) Yellow Batteries......come with a 3 year free exchange......I take mine in at 2 years just for the heck of it.....never questioned....been doing this for 10 years.

Yeah I think I have the Duralast. It had a good warranty. Mine in the K5 has lasted a few years now.

I just put 2 walmart batteries in camper this spring. I was going to get the agm batteries but for what they want I can replace theses 2 for the next 10 years!

I always try to buy interstate, seen too many people have issues with the walmart batteries. waranty is hard to beat, but not worth my time to risk it.

I swear by the Interstate MegaTron batteries. I have them both in the car and truck. You can go to an Interstate manufacturer or one of their shops and ask for a "blem" or "blemished" battery. The only difference is they're not shiny and pretty and normally quite a bit cheaper.

Costco. Kirkland Signiture batteries. 100month warranty, 36 month free replacement. Price is in the 60 buck range depending on size.

Good quality batteries too.

Interstate MegaTron batteries. .

we run TONS of these in the boats at the marina... if it's lead acid, it gets these... we're on interstates weekly delivery schedule.... have a display, etc...

I also run a pair of the #27 Megatrons in my rig, mainly cuz i get em free....

Hey Erik I have 2 interstate batteries that I pulled out of that 92 1 ton I parted last summer you can have. I charged them last summer so I'll check to see if there still charged and let you know tonight. They seemed new that's why I kept them around.

I just go to the junkyard when I need a "new" battery--quite often I can find a near new Interstate or Duralast one for 20 bucks or so,and they will give you another if the first one happens to not be good..--many wrecks come in daily with batteries and tires only a few months old,and they sell them cheap to get rid of them quick before they go "bad" from hanging around..I avoid Exide and "Never-Start" Walmart batteries with the black case ,they are junk...had good luck with Interstate,Die-Hards and Duralast batteries....one Duralast I got that was only 6 months old went dead sitting in my truck, and my friend took it to AutoZone, where he buys a few grand worth of parts monthly, and they swapped it for a brand new one,no questions asked!..(I paid 20 bucks for it at the junkyard!)...:D

My Suburban diesel has two huge "Continental" batteries that must weigh 50 lbs each..they have never gone dead since I have had it a year, and its sat in my driveway and was only started maybe a half dozen times..they look old too!..I'd get another in that brand if I came across one...the "Blem" batteries can be had new around here for 25-35 bucks with the same warantee as a new one too..

I've never thought of a junkyard. I normally get the blems. When I run dual isolated batteries on the truck I'll be picking up a couple more, possibly three with one side in parallel.

Sweet David, thanks!

I have an old Autocraft Titanium I bought at vatozne in 02 or o3...
Ran it in my ex's burb, swapped it to mine when hers died.

It sits for months, sometimes a year before I crank it up. (my tranny died, I have a new motor & tranny to swap in).

It cranks every time, sometimes it dies before the gas gets to the carb. I throw a charge on it and it fires off every time. Btw, there's no alt in my truck. It died too....

I'd buy 2 more if I could find them again.

You might call the actual interstate batt place. Ours was getting $50 for a refurb red top optima, 6 month no question warranty. I think they just jumped to $60 though. Thats the only reason i can afford to run dual red tops on the trail rig.:D

iirc, the red's are cranking batteries...

a search should bring up quite a few diatribes from me on deep cycle vs cranking batteries.... unfortunately batteries are a HUGE part of being a marine mechanic... my aching back is testimony to that... :doah:
