best cheap batterys you have used

iirc, the red's are cranking batteries...

a search should bring up quite a few diatribes from me on deep cycle vs cranking batteries.... unfortunately batteries are a HUGE part of being a marine mechanic... my aching back is testimony to that... :doah:

Well at least now I know who to ask when I get ready to wire up the isolators and accessories on the truck :P

always happy to help.... boats are LOADED with diode isolators... i play with the various systems daily... lot of ways to go about it.... if you see any "dual battery" threads in here you'll see i'm a fan of ACR's... both ACR and diode isolator systems have there pro's and con's..

I feel like my brain is asking for a hurtin :( I just want to be able to run a crapload of lights, winch, compressor, possibly welder, stereo and other accessories and still be able to start the truck if I have an "oh ****, forgot to turn of XX" moment :haha:

What I was planning was a High CA for the truck then dual deep cycles for everything else, just not sure how to "isolate" them from each other and how to wire the accessories to the duals.

someone once said you shouldn't run two different batteries in a dual battery set up. Don't know how different they can be, but I have a Yellow Top Optima as my main and a Wallmart Mega something as my second with isolator between them.
Is this a big deal?

If they're isolate then it's not a big deal from what I've learned. If they're in parallel then yes.

i run duralast golds under the hood... 1000ca each... in parallel.... they were on one leg of an isolator to which the other leg went to 2 8d batteries... 1395ca each... 1 was the size of 2 normal batteries.. and i got 2 of them in parallel!!!!!!

You're using a deep cycle as a starting battery?
Gentlemen, Start Your Engines.

The OPTIMA® RedTop® high-performance AGM battery is the ultimate high-CCA starting battery designed to deliver the strongest 5-second ignition power for a reliable start-up every time. The RedTop will outperform and outlast traditional batteries in demanding cranking/starting applications. With unparalleled high power delivery and extreme resistance to the most common causes of battery failure, the RedTop is idea for trucks, SUV's, luxury cars, hot rods, off-road vehicles and other applications that require a leak-proof starting-only battery.

The YellowTop® high-performance AGM battery is one of the only true dual-purpose automotive batteries available. With premium cranking power and unparalleled cycling capability (rechargeability), it is perfect for modern accessory-loaded vehicles. The YellowTop can repeatedly bounce back from deep power drains to full energy capacity, so it can power plenty of electronics and still start you up time after time. Lower internal resistance also provides more consistent power output and faster recharges.
Trucks with winches, vehicles with multiple electronics, cars with high-demand audio systems, commercial vehicles and heavy equipment all rely on this battery to provide ultimate starting and deep cycle power.

Installing an OPTIMA® BlueTop® high-performance AGM battery in your boat or RV means more running time and up to 3 times more recharges than what you’d get out of a traditional battery. It’s perfect for boats with electric trolling motors, onboard electronics or stereo systems and RV's with “creature comforts” that tend to drain batteries quickly. In addition to providing weight savings and outstanding vibration resistance, the BlueTop’s efficient power delivery and faster recharge time mean you’ll spend less time worrying about your battery. The OPTIMA BlueTop is ideal for those who need a sure-starting, strong cranking, maintenance-free power source.

well, each battery is on the sides of the picture and when I say isolator, I mean that thing next to the radiator on the left. So they are only connected by the positive in series (sp lol).
