i need new ones. From what I've seen I think I like the stock ones with the locking ring & tab you bend over. I'm sure there are other designs. What do you use & why?

A pinion gear nut with a locking tab? I've messed with a few Dana 44's, 60's, 70's and 80 and a few 14 bolt axles but I've never seen that.

Am living under a rock?

Everything I've messed with had pinch style nuts (originally and in installation kits).

Ha! Christ! I'm wore out! Spindle lock nut! I'm going to have to change the title quick so I can control the damage!

LOL whew, I thought I was loosing my mind. Haha!!

So now that you fixed the title, what axle are you working on?
Sounds like a 14FF to me.
Now I know that somewhere in the mid to late eighties, the 14FF apparently changed to one single nut with a key locking it to the spindle. A snap ring holds the key.
Lots of people like that style, and I would too if it wasn't for one side of my '95 axle. It wouldn't set properly with one of those. I went to the old style to get it where I wanted.

I have heard that a Stage 8 will work, but no experience.

Ahh, well I put a set of Stage 8 on my D60, I liked how they went one, but I have no endurance test to proclaim..

Yeah, if you don't mind the extra $$, the Stage 8's are the SHIZNIT. My only beef is that they don't actually fit the 14BFF that they are supposed to fit. Front axles, though, should be easy peasy.
