wondering if anyone had any preferences on paint for this area. I need to put a new coat on the black dash and wanted to make sure I used the best paint since it will not be coming off again anytime soon! Thanks.

i'll be doing mine soon.. going from the dark brown to black.. i'll use vinyl dye... PPG makes a nice one, always worked well on pads in the past... any autobody supply place will have it...

SEM color coat is a rattle can spray. It is designed for flexible parts and even carpet and velour. Works great. They also carry a prep cleaner spray as well. It can also be found at most autobody paint supply stores and sometimes at places like Pep Boys. Good luck.

SEM Products SEM Color Coat is going to be the best. 1. You'll need to wipe clean with a solvent. 2. Spray SEM Sand Free part#38363 on dash. 3. While Sand Free is still wet spray Color Coat on the dash. Sand Free is a heavy solvent that will soften the plastic/vinyl that the dash is made of to promote better adhesion for the Color Coat. You can buy SEM products at Carquest around the Southeast, not sure about other areas. I currently selll their products in the state of Alabama. Good Luck!

I've used many...Marhide...SEM....PPG...etc.
The best is Sherwin Williams "Ultra Interior".

I dyed the complete interior on my black k5..4 years ago.
It still looks sweet!!
