Best Ratchet ever made?

that said, for every day beater ones in my rigging bags, I buy the blue points with quick release off eghey... you can get 1/4 for $20, and 3/8 for 25 to 30 all day long... not quite as nice as regular snappy's that I have here at the house, but damn good ratchets..

Link to an example? This sounds more my level.

oh also, those guys I linked only sell new product, nothing used...

Will I notice a quality / feel difference between those and the Craftsman?

Or do i have to step up to fine tooth snappy's to see a major difference?

Not a fan of the blue point hand tools. Quality feel for every day use just isn't there. That said I do use BP air tools.

they're better than my old cr@ppy's.. don't know about the new ones.. I beat the snot out of mine daily and haven't had a failure or skip... they live in bilge water too..

it's not a snappy, but it's also 1/4 the price too... :pimp:

Hm. Maybe i'll hold off.

I've never broken a ratchet.

Even when I was 16 and put a floor jack under my 3/8" costco special....:haha:

Just broke the 3/8" to 1/4" drive adapter, when i had a 3/8" socket.....

I've come a long way :waytogo:

I've broken a LOT of Snap On ratchets.

That being said, they are hands down the best.

The fine tooth are better than the older course tooth, but you can buy the used course tooth ones cheaper, and they are still good.

the stooped thing is, technically they should really never break.. :haha:

we all use them incorrectly... ratchets are not meant to break bolts loose.. that's what breaker bars are for..

says the guy notorious for putting cheater pipes on em... :haha:

My snap-on rep gave me a hell of a deal on a 3/8 breaker so id stop "extending the handle" on my ratchet. You can never get a good angel with the breaker bars:dunno:

I've never seen a 3/8" breaker bar.

Yes, technically, not what they are supposed to be used for. But, they should be strong enough for that purpose too, IMO.

No questions asked warranties, right? :haha:

I've never seen a 3/8" breaker bar.

My 3/8ths breaker was at home when I took this picture. My Mac 1/2 breaker bar doesn't fit in that drawer and was at home also. But my 1/4 inch breaker bar is in there...

There is so much truth to this.:waytogo:

Sometimes the only thing that fits in the spot, is a 1/4" ratchet.
And, sometimes it needs some leverage.... :dunno: :thumb:
1/4" breaker bar...

I have an old Craftsman 3/8 breaker bar. Can't say I use it very much.

But, they do make 3/8 and 1/4 breaker bars. Snappy makes a nice 1/4 one.

I have a 3/8" breaker bar. It was used specifically on Series 60 Detroit Diesel (with the compact gear case) camshaft bolts. Other than that, I don't use them, my ratchets are warrantied.

I was just thinking I should buy an extra ratchet repair kit next time I'm at Sears. They're only $0.99 and then you can repair it at home, keep working and warranty out the broken parts at a convenient time. Does everybody else do this and I'm just late to the game?

Didn't know you could buy those.

I've got a few ratchets (2 in the toolbox, my roommate has one, I have on the truck), so it never dawned on me.

But, not a bad idea.

ya can using 12 point sockets... ;)

that's why I always kinda chuckle at mechanics who act all hardcore with, "12 point sockets are stoopid, 6 point are all anyone needs!" there are circumstances where you better own 12 points as a mechnick... :deal:

I have a 3/8 BP breaker bar.... don't own a 1/4"..

my 1/2" is the 36" Snappy... the king of breaker bars... that see's some use..

the 3/8's rarely get's used...
