I have this one also, and it's been installed for many years with no issues with 39.5" tires and lots of wheelin'. The two things that sold me was the price (on sale at the time, so much cheaper than anything else) and the two spring shackle holes. Currently have stock 52's but have a set of 56's in the garage and won't have to touch the flip kit when i put in the new springs.

DIY4x for sure.

Although, on my V3500, they did NOT fit 100% correct. Ended up having to make a 1/4" thick shim to fit between the bottom of the frame and the bracket. That was sorta irritating, cost me another hour of work. Otherwise, great design- much better than any of the others as far I'm concerned.

Thanks for all the replys. This is the info I was looking for. I was not sure about the external shackles or the OEM shackles. I have some stuff to order from ORD, so I decided to spread the wealth and go with Kerts. Now I just need to get them ordered. Thanks again.

You should have made a phone call Jethro. Not sure how that could have happened but we could have made a custom one up for you.

Those holes should be 1" up from the bottom of the frame if memory serves.

Kert, please don't think I posted those pics to call you out or anything. I just remembered I had them when I saw this post. At the time I took them, I was back in Cali on leave, had very little time to finish the truck, needed to be able to drive it that day and didn't feel that calling you was necessary. I have zero doubt that you would have made it right, I just didn't have time to wait for another part. It was a simple enough fix, so no big deal. I thought about calling, but decided against it. No worries my friend. Maybe sometime in the future we can work somethin out.

Anyways, as far as the 1" measurement, I'm 2900 miles away from the truck, don't have a tape long enough to pull that measurement. :haha:

Nope didn't take it that way at all. Understand the time constraints you have currently and can only say thank you for your service!

So you don't have any supporting evidence? Just because you say so?

Martin

Home brew flip here... Works great... 52s/56s... Also did the home brew front hanger swap... My suspension cost almost nothing and it's pretty damn flexy...

I'm cheap and spend my money on parts that I can't build myself...

NOPE... I my self dont have shackle Flip yet. But I Roll with Tom Cherry and Ive see the Watson Crew in action and a bunch of others usethere stuff. and not use it like a regular wheeler would. IM talkin Poundin the snot out of there stuff. I believe JAson aka Mountain MAn has there stuff on the Rear I could be wrong but that Guy is AWESOMEly CRAZY behind the wheel when it comes to Wheelin and it ROCKS!

Watsons KOH competitors how much more Proving do you want. TOM and Watsons UA how much more do you want. ITs on the nice Rigs like 70JIMMY and its on the Hard core Rigs its Proven and it works. Its a fair price.

I havent delt with KERT as much. He makes nice Pretty and shinny stuff and IM sure it works great, But I ve seen this in PERSON the ORD stuff. Untill I see better and or stronger in Person Im ROLLIN ORD. Thats me. Dosent have to be you. IM just Droppin my Dime in here. Thanx for listening:popcorn:

So wouldn't a more appropriate post been:

"I can vouch for the quality of the ORD parts, but I have no experience with the DIY4X. Therefore I can say the ORD part is very good, but I can't tell you which one is better"

Seems simple enough to me.

Martin

obviously strength isn't an issue with either... the main difference is internal vs external shackle...

I dont remember seeing them on here, but either way theres no way to proove whats the best. Like Ryoken said, internal vs external shackle.

OK, the oops on the vendor thing is kinda like farting in church... It happens, it's embarrassing yes... But, you get over it...

The fact of the matter is, that you don't need a vendor... You can make it yourself... Or you can purchase it from someone else...

Both make great products... But, I for one, would not buy either... I like building my own parts...

If you don't want to build it, then spend the coin and buy one... There's plenty of people that can attest to either product...

The sooner you get over the fact that you need approval for the parts you should buy, the sooner you can finish your build and truly understand what parts you really need...

I'm not trying to be a prick here, just saying that you need to make these discussions for yourself based on trial and error... Not from what someone else told you...

Well then we might as well all just log off of Colorado K5 and never sign back in.
