i have the factory quad shock setup with the 6.2 diesel, looking at buying replacement shocks and can't decide on what to go with. I've seen people ditch the quads and go with singles all the way around, I've also seen a lot of people running billstein shocks, just wondering what billsteins I should go with, would the b6 4600 be best?

Looks like these are for lifted trucks, I keep seeing a 2" minimum to run the 5125's

I was in the exact same boat as you, 3 months ago, My shocks on my 89 Jimmy were worn slap out, I too had factory quad shocks up front. I bought 4 bilstien 4600's, the yellow and blue ones. Cost about 300 bucks but well worth it. I went with just 2 shocks up front. Truck rides much better now even though my leaf springs are also worn out, no more bouncing for 100 yards after taking a speed bump.

I assume you looked on the bilstein website for 5100'? I could get either for my tahoe's, no lift on either. 4600 is still a good shock though.

The 5100 and 4600 are pretty much the same price and from what I gathered when I bought mine, the 5100s are designed for lifted trucks and more catered to off-road use. They are softer. The 4600s are designed for stock suspensions that are mostly road use.

I talked with Bilstein about the differences a couple months back:

"To start off our 4600 series and 5100 series shocks are pretty much the same shock technology. The 4600 is for stock ride height and the 5100 for lifted application and are specific to an application, both are 46mm monotube design dampers. The 5100 may have a different valving profile to control the aftermarket spring rates.

On an 85 K5 Blazer the auxiliary shock is actually valved heavier than the primary shock. We offer a 5125 series that are esthetically the same as a 5100 but are sold by extended / collapsed measurements."
