I know it's going to be expensive no matter what, but does anyone have preferred source for a factory tilt column?

The one in my 'Burb is toast and it's time to swap it out.

Rebuilding yours is not an option? Or is it not a tilt?
A few vendors come to mind from teh 67-72chevytruck board. Its just been so long since Ive spent a lot of time over there that I dont recall who they are.

The earlier vans (pre 78ish I think) have a column that is pretty much identical and will bolt in. Ididit and Flaming River also make a pretty nice column that looks a little different than the original but bolt right in and look quite nice. I think I have an original column shift out in the shed I could sell as well if all else fails.

My existing one is a factory tilt. It's got a few problems with the selector (broken plastic bits inside) and the turn signal assembly must have some sort of short in it, because I get flashers when I try to turn on the directionals.

At this point, I don't have the time or interest in screwing with it so I was just going to replace the whole thing with something 100% plug-compatible (I'm not sure if the Flaming River, Ididit colums use the factory crescent-shaped wiring connector or not?) and maybe down the road, I can rebuilt it and throw it into the Blazer which doesn't have a tilt-column yet.

ECE (Early Classic Enterprises) has a factory tilt for around $500. GMCPauls may offer one too, but their website is infuriating to navigate and I can't find a listing there. Maybe Brothers Trucks? LMC?

I have a non tilt in my 4x4 and honestly with the smaller Grant wheel, it's at the perfect spot. I wouldn't pay the extra for a tilt.

Thanks for that link......$471 delivered. On it's way today.... :thumb:

Let me know what you think about this column once you receive it. I had inquired about the same column on the 67-72 trucks website and was curious if any one else had ordered it. Pictures would be great too if you could. :D

Just curious if you got your column yet and if so, what do you think of it? If you have a way to post a picture of it once you receive it, would you mind posting it because I am interested in buying one, but would like to see what you think of it before I make the plunge. :D

Still waiting...... I'll post some pics when it gets here.

Thanks, I figured it might not have gotten there yet. Look forward to the pictures when you get it!

Im interested too, not to mention if its worth the money just to have the tilt. I have a nice column but no tilt and figure the $470 could go to my A/C restore.

Correction: TWO-WEEK BACKORDER!!!

Nothing in the confirmation email indicated a backorder situation.....just some clever wording that "in stock items ship in 1 - 2 days".

That sucks! Hopefully they will have them in stock and more than 1 in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the update and I still look forward to the pictures....eventually. :frown1:

Just curious if you ever got your column from Brothers. I inquired at Brothers on 6/7/07 and they said they were backordered but were expecting their shipment of them in 10 days or less so I placed an order and needless to say, I'm still waiting for one of these to be in stock and ready to ship.
