just the point you didn't... you misunderstood.

your telling me that bigger brakes taking 10 hp on a dyno is no power lost?

i understood perfectly. you changed your mind twice on one subject in one post.

and yes, the 10hp lost due to the bigger brakes (although i dont see how that would happen) could easily be cancelled out be the intertia due to the heavier rotating mass.

oringinally posted by dirtwarrior17anybody that doesn't have thier head in their ass knows that rotational mass eats hp...I was suprised at how much hp it lost, thought it would be less.

originally posted by beaterK20 ah, but more rotational mass creates inertia, which keeps the wheel spinning longer. so the power loss is really nothing lost, it takes more to get it moving, less to keep it moving.

you are right about the inertia but when i said it loses hp i meant peak. Losing hp with rotational mass i.e. bigger or heavier tires means your motor works harder(to get to the speed limit).

I got to here how that makes me wrong....

lol that is what you call changing your mind? you still don't get it... all i said was rotational mass kills rwhp. if your disagreeing with that then we're done here.

rotational mass does not kill hp... hp maintains momentum, inertia maintains momentum, they work together. you reduce hp, icrease momentum, the effects of one will be cancelled out to some extent.

dirt...

Just like a woman, always gotta get the last word in. Why not just drop it instead of ****ing up another thread? Kill it, no one cares anymore.

All im sayin is give it up already. Its old, like 25 posts ago.

Wow! i never knew gas millage could cause such a ruckus..Dang..as for my truck, yes i get 3.8mpg around town, yes just about every road in this town is uphill, so yes just about every where i go, my foot is in it. Yes my motor is i guess a "mild" motor just shy of 400 ponies, and yes i carry a full size spare and i would guess at least 600 to 800 pounds of tools, counting the tool box, and no it does not a need a major tune up or adjustment, it goes on the ol 3 gas analizer at least once a month and its dialed..yes 3.8mpg is crappy, considering my other truck with a 454 pumping 538 ponies gets 5.2mpg.. but i deal with it, and so does my wallet, between 200 and 300 bucks a WEEK to fill my tanks, but hey its only money right?:D and i just can't wait to see what my dodge charger gets for millage, my 426 hemi should be compleated in the next couple weeks, the shop building it gaurentees me it will be pumping over 600 ponies, (we'll see when they dyno it when its compleate) then i'll be ripping up the streets with that bad boy..and trust me, my foot will be in that one too:D :D

I get about 11 mpg with a pos carbed 350, th350, np205, 4.56's, and 38's.

My Jimmy with 5" of lift, 40's, no overdrive and 4.56's get 16.5 freeway, and about 15 in town. :)

I'd also love to hear how rear disc's have more rotational mass than the 13" drums that come stock?

if we are talking about the difference in some puny ricer's stock rear disc's versus much larger rear disc's I could see there might be a measurable difference...although the 'loss' would be something any sane person would live with happily in the trade off for better braking.

Dirtwarrior, it's nice to see enthusiasm...(the horse is dead though...)

Beaterk20, "I saw it on TV" is just as good a form of 'proof' as "I read it on the internet".

'89 K5 STOCK TBI 350 W/20K ON A REBUILD, 3.42 GEARS AND 31" TIRES GETS 12 MPG IN SUBURB CHICAGO DRIVING.

the argument was involving BIGGER disk brakes.
