Looking to make a smoother ride in my 86 K10 Suburban. The springs and axles are original. I may throw a set of k20 axles under it soon.
Any suggestions?

Are you going to lift it at all?

I'm not sure about stock springs, I'm sure a custom set could be built up though, by Alcan or Deaver?

I just worked hard on making my '89 V1500 Suburban ride smooth. The front has 4" Tuff Country H.D. springs, while the rear has 4" Pro-Comp 56" springs. I am now running Bilstein 7100's (255/70 valving I believe) in the front with 5100's in the rear. It's riding quite excellently for such a large vehicle. Railroad tracks are soaked up so well you hardly know you drove over them. I haven't been off road yet though; although I'm expecting the results are going to be excellent as well.

I also installed a set of ORD's swaybar disconnects, to free up the front axle movement mostly. It adds a "shackle" to the sway bar, so that it won't bind up on up & down movement of the axle.

If you are keeping the stock springs, I would still recommend Bilstein for the shock of choice; although with stock lengths, you may end up with the yellow body version.

Good luck!

Thanks clay, I will keep that in mind. I have always avoided lifting it....I like to be able to get into parking garages without taking out the sprinkler system, And I very rarely go off road. I may consider a 2" lift, but first I need better step bars than the Smitty`s i have on there, so my wife can get in and out easy.
