Thornbirds suck in mud. They look good when you are parked though. Go for the BFG MTs. They wear better than any of the super swampers. If you are going to spend a lot on tires you want them to last right?

I've had the BFG MTs on my trucks goin on six years now. 2 sets in six years I don't think is to bad. I've crawled with them driven in snow and muck and mud and only got stuck once. Course that was a snow bank that I accidentally drove into that was deeper than my truck was tall.

Took a back hoe the better part of an hour to get it out.

Well i got Bfg A/t today *remember my dad picked them out and paid for em*:D

So far i like them. Way better than the tires i had on there before it made my steering tighter and my truck handle better.

Dunno how they're gonna do off road yet:confused:

You'll like em. And they don't drift.

I'm in the planning stage of my next truck. I have a set of 35 inch KM's here that I had planned on putting on this truck... I will down size to a 33x10.5 to keep the rotational mass down if I do keep the IFS.

Let me know if you want to sell those KMs. I have one with a wiped out sidewall that I'm running a tube in. :doah:

Yep tried that they realy hold their line. So far... they've been pretty good to me. Good burn outs in ditches... and pretty good on dirt roads and sand. I STILL have yet to try them in the mud. I kinda need front tow hooks 1st:mad:

Relief

I'm glad this thread was started. When I bought the 77, it had 32" BFG A/T's on it. When I bought the 87, I bought a set (5) of 31" Bridgestone Dueler M/T's. I drove about 4500 miles in two weeks and had no problems with them. They did pretty well in mud although I didn't get terribly deep and not a lot of road noise. I was a little concerned about the BFG's but after reading this thread, it looks like I am going to get a lot of DD life and some pretty decent off road (trails mostly) use out of them. With the prices of tires these days, longevity is a major concern for DD's for me. From this thread I guess I won't be buying a set of tires for a while. Thanxs for the good info.

I put AT's on my S10 and loved them. However the tires i had on before that were almost bald. I went through everything with them, did great in my opinion. They do pack full and turn to slicks quick, but then again that's a plus in the snow, you want your tire to hold snow, snow packed tires are the best traction for on snow. I only had 31's but I have absolutley no complaints. Lasted forever even with my alighnment out of wack 90% of the time i ran them.

I had a set of 33-10.5-15 AT's on a 78 K10 I used to have. Spent a winter in Flagstaff with it with no problems whatsoever. The 33" MT's I had on my 86 K5 before they were swiped did very well. I was really suprised about how quiet they were on the freeway and how straight it would stay. I wanted to stick with them so I ordered a set of 35" MT's for the K5 the other day. Hoping to have it back on the road for the Tucson M&G next week.
