Bicycles

I have some all mountain style frame tape. It's held up good for the past year and you can order it with a pattern on it and it changes the look of your bike a bit. For the wheels, did you try working both beads to the center of the rim then I would just grab the tire and try to roll it off the rim. Just using pressure on the ground and your hands vertically. Maybe get a sponge and get that edge of the rim a little wet/soapy to help the tire slide off

Yeah, I was trying to get it in the dip in the center but when I found the profile of the wheel there's not much dip, 4-5mm max and the tube takes up some space. Gonna give it another shot maybe tonight. Think these maxxis tires fit tight.

May buy some generic tape and cut my own panels from it. Not a ton of choices out there for matte paint.

I will say this bike is beating the hell out of me. Been off the bike for too long (5wks) and my fitness level has gone down noticeably. That seat is killing me too... Some serious tenderizing to the wrong parts.. Gonna try one of the other seats I have around here when I change out the dropper post.

Sweet. I just sold a stump jumper pro frame that I had for the wife. Decided I didn’t want her coming with the daughter and I.

I have a new Nomad frame that I need to build but have been dragging my feet on spending the cash.

@TreeFarm that thing looks sick! I bet you have some awesome trails in Alaska

Thanks, I told myself I wasn't going to buy a dirt bike up here so I bought a mountain bike that cost just as much haha. Lots of good trials around and only $200 for a season pass to the local resort. Hopefully I dont get attacked by too many bears and moose

Haven’t ridden one at all. Not sure that I’ve even seen them on the trail anywhere. I love me some new bike days.

I’ve got a new Nomad frame sitting downstairs. Still riding a last gen Nomad and not sure I want to build up the new one. Afraid the sport is moving to e-assist quickly. Rode one and it was crazy fun. The stigma is disappearing fast and you can get way more laps without killing yourself to get to the top. My technical riding was more fun not being gassed.

@Abusfullofnuns tell me about it. My buddy demoed the new specialized enduro yesterday and damn, it was nice. I keep wearing out bushings on my felt compulsion. The equilink is a bit more matinence that I like. It rides nice but wears out.

I'm on the fence about ebikes too. I haven't rode one yet but being on solo rides and able to get more laps on is a big incentive to get one. The wife said if I sell my current bike and old one I can get an ebile.

I think if you're using an ebike for actual transportation, they make sense. Or if you're in some way infirmed that you need the assist (injury or age), it also makes sense. But if you're out for your health, it doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

I assume you haven’t ridden one on the trails then. I thought the same. I even thought about pulling the brake on a guy that kept lapping me on an easy climb. Then I rode one.

wanted to add that I am talking assist not full on electric.

No, I haven't ridden one. I figure if I need to go that fast or far on a ride, I'll just hop on one of my motorcycles. Bicycle makes me earn it.

and keep your hands to yourself... no assisting in someones braking... lol :haha:

Haha. I haven't rode either

I probably won't get one. I like to suffer on the rocky climbs hahaha

Who knows, I may end up needing one. Did something to my knee a couple of weeks ago. Rested a week, got back on the bike again this week and it's been getting progressively worse again. :-(

Went to see the dr back in about 2003 and he said I needed knees at that time, but was way to young. Still in my 20's. Said to live with it. Hope I'm not hitting that point now.

Not trying to convince anyone here, and I’m probably another new bike away from making the plunge into electric. I did just build an electric skateboard it’s insanely fun. That might sway me sooner.

However, the fastest and craziest rider that I personally know and have ridden with is a bike mechanic in Pemby, BC. The main riding area is trails that fall off a 3400ft climb. I go there every summer. He shocked me when I showed up and he had the Kona e-bike. I scoffed and he said that he can either get one lap on lunch or with e-bike he gets two. And that his tech riding had gotten even better due to more reps. Definitely changed my perspective and then I rode one. Couldn’t stop grinning.

Any of you guys done any re-cabling lately? Time to do my gravel bike, looking at the jagwire - cant decide on the 'pro' or 'elite sealed' The pro is compressionless on the brakes, which would be good, and I have a feeling less friction. The elite sealed helps w/ keeping muck out of the cables, which is a problem - but the brakes are listed as low-compression. All summer the park I ride through to get to my trail is over watered so I end up having to go through that crap...

Have any other cable brands you recommend?
