Big Arse Military Tires????

Yeah but some people just dont use any commen sense when putting together steering and suspension systems. That one isnt as bad as some but really now, the hell?

I have been looking into rockwells and I think for me it may not be all that bad. For what I can sell my dana 60 and 14 bolt in SoCal I could buy rockwells and have money left over. The most expensive things seem to be brakes (on the wheels) but lockers are the same price and the damn thing already comes geared. Plus cmon now, rockies! :saweet: I just need to find some locally, anyone know of someone in the LA or surronding regions were I can get some? Rockwells that is.

Do you guys think those tires will do good in the mud? I bet they do good in the rocks but I am a little concerned about mud performance.

That blazer is not just bad.. it's flat out Defective. :smirk:

I'd take it any day.

As napoleon would put it, "Friikin idiot!"
I wouldnt run anything like that at all. But all I was saying is that I have seen way way way worse on here. I just want to rob is axles. Then take the rest of that junk out and use the steel for brackets and what not. Some people do the dumbest things to their trucks. And I am still trying to figure if what I am thinking about doing is a dumb thing. :dunno:

Oh and by the way the friikin idiot wasnt directed at you just in case you thought it was, its the first thing I thought of when I saw that suspension. ;)

I'm not saying it's the right way to do things but I would still take the truck. Trailer it to a mud pit and trailer it home. Deffinitely dangerous on the street, not as dangerous by yourself in the mud pit.

Do they have any sizes in between the 38" and 46" range? I would love to have a 42" or so.

I think they do there was a on here with the user name OL14BLAZ or some thing like that that I think had some.

Didn't he have the 38's? I guess I could be wrong.

I think they may have been 38's too. I am not sure, I can see hes reading through the posts, so speak up dude, what ya rollin on? :)

I had an 89 K5 with a D60/14B and was running the 12.5R20 XLs on 20x9 cutom built single beadlocks by Stazworks. The tire was just a little over 41 inches tall and real narrow. Rode very smooth on the hwy. Never kept them long enough to wheel them though.

Parted out the K5 and DP_90K5 has the remains that he is building his new off road toy with.

That would be a real nice size, I just really like the fact of having such a great life on the street. Are those harder to come by than the others? I still do drive my truck on the street often.

You can find them on ebay sometimes and I see them on pirate as well. I know Daniel at USA6x6 has them most the time too. Just make sure when you get rims to get the ones with the right bead seat. The 20 inch ciivilan rims won't work properly. These even have a different bead bevel than the larger military michelins.

Call John @ Stazworks he can explain all of it in detail and hook you up with the correct rims.

I like stazworks rims, thats what I figured I would use. I like the beadlocks he puts on there. Are those tires really heavy for a tire of that size?

4wheeling is so much more fun when you stop trying to impress people and just start having fun! I had a j4000 that the PO lifted with blocks at all four corners, that truck was fun ,I dont care how stupid that makes me. The blocks where steel and welded to the perches, it never gave me any problems. If its yours and you want to do it ,go for it . If you try 500 new things and one works good then post it up :D

Impressing people is some of the fun to me. Mainly though I want to know 100 percent that the truck I take on the street almost as much as the trails will not fail when I have to slam on the brakes. Knowing that I set up something questionable to use on the street would make me very uneasy. I would be horrified if my truck killed 4 people in a car. Its already dangerous enough with the big lifts, tires, aftermarket this and that. If its strictly offroad than so be it, its your life and you would only be jeopordizing yours. And that of anyone in the vehicle with you. You absolutely right though, who cares what others think of your rig, most important thing is that you have a great time doing it. But doing it safely is important too. God, I feel like Im an old man preaching about safety. Oh well, thats my job Im a safety director for a large construction company so safety is my business. :haha: :haha:

I weighed one before I mounted them on the rims and IIRC it came in around 94 lbs.

I'm running Michelin XLs in the 11.00R16 (38") size. I don't think they'd be all that outstanding as an off road tire, but the sure are sweet on the street. I bought them from a surplus dealer who has wharehouses in Alabama and Texas. He sells just about everything from 53s down to H1 tires. PM me for his name and #. I would much rather buy from this guy than anyone on Ebay. I was local enough to pick my tires up from his warehouse rather than have them shipped and he really did me right. See my post in the daily driver thread for a pic of the tires on my M1008 with 4" lift.

my email is [email protected]
can you email me the name and # of the guy in Texas, gonna get a set of 53's
