I was climing a rock face at little moab out side of salt lake and Boooom my whole blazer jumped> I looked back and nothen but 80-90w inside the bead lock. I pulled down(while the left rear made some nasty sounds and found that the flange had a new window in the center. I tried to pull the shaft out but it mushroomed out and split the spindel on the housing so I guess that it is time to salvage the detroit and get a new housing and start over.
look at the pics in the link

Weren't you on the cover of 4 Wheel and Offroad? Or was it Four WHeeler...so hard to recall /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Did you grind the nub off the face of the flange? I dont know if those are aftermarket or stock shafts, but I've never seen a stock shaft without the nubs. If you did grind it, you think that could have weakened it?

How/Where did you buy/make those spring perches?? Those are awesome, BTW you shop is awesome, where do you work at??

Quality breakage! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Nice trailer, who makes it? It's hard to tell but it's 8 lug, right?

Too bad your not closer. I'd buy that housing from you. Now you can cut the spindles off and get some D60 outers and convert it to rear steer.

That's quality breakage...

I wanna know about that trailer, I dig the drive-over fenders. Is the whole thing custom built or did you just have the fenders added on?

Wow that looks really familiar!

Yes I did grind the nubbs off and faced the flange on a lathe. If you look close thoes nubes are for a lathe to spin the shafts on when they are making them. The shaft has a centering pilot at each end also. and paul(blue blaze) you can blow me . Yes that is a coustom built trailer made so I can drive over the fenderwells. That trailer is rated at 14k lbs but unfortinatley it weighs 4K lbs.
