I e-mailed Snap-On asking for a copy of their credit agreement. I'm going on what two S-O dealers have told me, and the fact that I've never had the serial numbers checked on either of my Snap-On boxes. My current dealer told me I could give him the serial number and he could call but there would likely be nothing to hear as they do-not keep a database of boxes financed. And also from everything I've read when an item is secured as collateral, than needs to be filed with the state, and without that filling an item cannot be "repossessed," at least not from a third party.
Im not saying Snap-on is gonna come get the box from you if the person who sold it to you still owed money on it .

I'll throw you guys in another loop. What if your Snap-on dealer is the problem and not you. What if your payment isn't actually being put on your account correctly? Who repos who's stuff. I had a long standing dealer that had my account for 11 years. Me being a field mechanic and not always at the shop when he showed up. I gave him the access to run my card every week or once a month. Always depends on the shop pay schedule. I had Snapon credit calling me. I explain my situation with the rep on the phone. Over the next couple of months or so. The dealer wasn't showing up to shops and cards weren't being ran. Brokens weren't being exchanged and so on so forth. I get a call from Snap on credit rep again. This time he is asking to know if I've been able to get ahold of my dealer. The dealer was quitting the business and putting as much cash in his pocket and not paying his credit payment with Snapon.
Now, who repos who?
My current snapon dealer who took over that route is currently doing good as far as we can see. Trucks always loaded with new tools a d boxes. Always has used stuff that has been "voluntarily returned" to settle contracts. Makes for great promotion items for me to buy!
I tell all the new guys in the industry. Pick one truck/brand and stay with it until you have a good base. Dont buy more than you can pay off in a couple months if you had to. Build a relationship with your tool dealer.
Question for all of you guys that wrench fulltime. What do you budget annually for tools? Hard budget, mental budget, hide it from your spouse budget, doesn't matter. When you ask for your tax receipt in January. What was the total a d do you expect to spend it every year?

I’m pretty established tool wise , so really The only buying I do is to upgrade , or the occasional “ooh that’s cool I want it!!!!!”
I don’t really have a budget for it , If I have the extra money I buy it.
I do have an RA account on the truck , but I have not used it in the 11 yrs I have been on that truck .
I typically spend 2000.00-ish a year on the truck , and probably another 2000.00 on tools at our local Industrial Supply place .
Now that I have my EPA universal card I have been buying HVAC tooling so my spending has gone up a bit.
I have no budget. I'm just buying things to make jobs easier these days. Some of those jobs i don't usually or ever do, lol! I bought a set of ratcheting tap handles a while back. I already own tap sockets. I don't do much tapping. But I wanted them, and I like them after using them once or twice. I bought a long ass handle 1/2 inch drive ratchet. No reason other than I wanted it.
