That's not your problem..... That's his.You have to very careful when buying a box like that so cheap. Good chance he still owes on it .
I would ask for the serial numbers, then call your local snap on guy and have him make sure it’s legit.

Yeah that's an old wives tale that Snap on can snatch a box from you because someone else owes on it. Snap on credit is unsecured.
I was told, within the last month, by two snap on dealers this is not the case. I've never seen a tool dealer walk into a shop and start running numbers on boxes. The dealer I have now gives zero ****s about where my box came from. They take boxes back, but they don't repossess them. Then they take them back, they are "buying back" the tool box and or tools for what you owe on the account. I know this because i been there before. They do this and the loan is marked as paid in full and everyone is happy.
Of course.Due diligence is all I’m saying , if it seems to be to good a deal it usually is.
Our Dealer litterally just repoed a box for non-payment from a guy here at work . He boxed up all the guys Personel tools that were not collateral. And left them in place of where the box had sat.
What you saw was either agreed upon by both parties, or theft.
You may want to read your Snap-On credit agreement if you have one , ( I don’t , I have an RA on the truck that I don’t use ) because the stuff I have seen and read say something different.
Show me, in snap-On's writing, where it says that they can come take your shit.
