Big lifts..

I can't tell you who will have the best price but I can tell you that 9 times out of 10 if you shop around at the classifieds on here or on pirate4x4 or other off road forums you will find a good price. Watch local classifed papers, ebay, there alot of sources other than who has the biggest adds in the off road magazines. Contact some of the vendors on here or pirate and I bet someone will get you a good deal! Just my .02 Be patient and a good deal will come around!!!

I can attest to this as I " HAD " the swamp runner kit on my truck... 12" lift plus 3" bl with stock steering..

I could turn sharper one way over the other and I think at best it was like 20' to make the sharper turn!!!! :doah:

I was going with rocks and 53's but NJ changed their lift laws so down I had to go..

but the xover did fix the steering issue.... so I would say that xover should be definite if you go 12" susp...... and a steering brace kit too...

About your lift laws..Since i live in MASSACHUSETTS and am a Vehicle State Inspector for a living in mass..Yes lift laws are difficult.. But I have ways around that. Such as registering it as offroad equipment, or over 10,000 heavy duty commercial, or register it as recovery for the local police.. Normaly anything at about 38" tires and 8" of lift they wont pull you over here..but bigger is iffy... Get tractor trailer plates...

Just put common sense into it.. Get a bumper that puts driving lights low (actual driving lights -not spot lights or euro crap lights), get proper sized mud flaps (front and rear) , use proper lighting and reflectors on the bed and cab. Use common sense on speed and dont drive reclessly (its definitely not a race car), dont put huge loud pipes on the rig, and try not to have a wild paint job--to catch cops eye...keep everything low key..

Also dont keep an inch thick of mud on the truck or stuff hanging down.. Maintain the vehicle...

These are just reminders for whatever your driving...(i know we all know these things-its just a reminder- even with a BIG lifted truck!)

Must be nice... in NJ it wont work... and he is in PA so their laws are a bit more relaxed but not much.....

lets break down what you said there
Such as registering it as offroad equipment, or over 10,000 heavy duty commercial, or register it as recovery for the local police

in NJ the VIN has to be 10,001 to be lift law exempt

Get tractor trailer plates
never heard of doing that.... then I believe DOT rules would then apply...

plane and simple... you want a big truck... just see what PA will allow to be legal... and go to that height ....
that is what im doing in NJ... I dont get pulled over at all.... but if I do.. I have the second inspection sticker stating that I went to the inspection station and also I have my paperwork showing that the truck is legal...

the only thing that may not go back on is those ugly dagon mudflaps... :haha:

where is a good place to have driveshafts made? what about does it cost for front and rear ds's?

I had a local shop cut my rear d-shaft...its a custom length with 1350 u-joints through out and that included a 27 spline slip yoke for my np208 transfercase that had the 1350 ears on it...$200
