Is this going to be worth while for us to set up?

It's 3 phase so we can convert that for about 100.00 Then we will need to get all the other attachments for whatever we want to do with it.

Depends on how much welding you guys need to do to say whether or not it's worth it. Stick is the cheapest obviously. TIG will need the torch, pedal, bottles and regulators. MIG will need a stand alone feeder like this:

The machine you have is a power supply, and very versatile but still needs all the peripherals to be useful.

This is a cheaper feeder option I think...

then TIG torch and pedal and if you're doing a fair bit of Aluminum or high amp TIG a torch cooler set-up.

If you guys are looking to stop subbing out welding repairs on the farm I'd go with the 22A feeder, dual shield flux core wire in .045" for general purpose stuff. It will need a straight CO2 gas shield.

Yeah we just got this last night...it was given to Colby for him and I to use at home! Lol! Our nieces boy friend asked Colby if he wanted a welder?
But he didn't know what it was and had no pictures,it was his brothers and was in his dads garage, they just wanted to get it out of there. He gave it to us for free!

He showed up with this beast last night... O shit! That is not what we were expecting! Colby really enjoys learning welding at school, so I think he / we will pick away at this to get it working. Probably going to sit for a while.

We have been doing some research...quite a unit. We will slowly look for attachments. Always good info Rene Thanks!

That's a commercial unit, so usually how we'd set them up is find a permanent central location for the power supply and the bottles (one argon mix, one straight CO2) then build a small roll around cart that holds the feeder unit on top. It just takes some cable and hose extensions. In some of the bigger shops we had 75'-100' of range from the power supply.

This is really overkill for your two car garage...you might be better off selling this unit and using the proceeds to buy something a bit more appropriate for Colby to use in a smallish garage.

This machine is ideal for Colby, and has all the same versatility, without the bulk and stuff.

MIG, TIG, Stick, weighs about 45 lbs, plenty of power input choices. Add a bottle and you're good.

While that is a very good machine. Capable of doing stupid long welds at high amps, it's way beyond overkill for a home/hobby type of shop. The other issue is if you can covert it to single phase power it would pull an insane amount of amps.

I'd sell it and buy something more suitable for what you're going to be doing.

I totally agree with you guys.

The machine you posted last Rene would be ideal!

It hasn't cost anything yet so we will see...I could put it in our big shop, but I don't want too. Rene will get that!?

I totally get it Dean, unless you could make a dollar doing it that is.

Damn, that's a nice unit for a home shop.
I would just pull the trigger to get it set up it.
Buy the feeder box. You might be able to find a used one on the internet. They are out there. Have it wired.
Once you get it set up, in 6 months you won't know what you did before you had this.
