BIG RIG guys....more opinions

the 855/n14 cummins are pretty widley abundant, and cheap in the used truck market........ but i dont like em. i dont like the fuel system and timing of them. but anyways..... im not a driver, im a technician.

ignore my ISX comment if you're looking at the used market. its very powerful, and effecient, but also very expensive.

I'm looking used - early/mid/late '90s, depending on condition.

Kinda leaning towards FLD 120 condo, or an International 9400 with a Sky Rise....either with a Cummins or Cat, and a 10+ spd. I don't mind a vehicle with 7-800,000 or more - I have a tight budget. I don't mind high mileage (that'll help keep costs down), so long as there's been a recent in/out-of-frame, and good service records.

I'm looking for a good truck - no body damage or a used-and-abused interior. I think there is a truck like this out there for me, I just need to find it....either get the word spread and get a hook-up, or continue to surf the 'net until I'm at the right place at the right time to get the perfect deal, or hell, just get plain luck somehow.

Hit some of the truck auction sights....Someone elses mishap may be your savings....

Rattle city, a 750,000 FLD condo....

What are you planning on pulling? Van, skateboards or? All that extra heigth in front of a skateboard just eats fuel and limits what you can get under....

You don't like high mileage FLD's?

And, I plan on making this a non-commercial, personal use vehicle. More to follow on that later....now, I'm shopping.

Well my "big rigs" are semis converted to straight trucks. My biggest truck i drive has a big Cummins in it, and a Eaton Fuller 13-Speed I love that truck it is the Ford in the pic. Always plenty of power and i never go past 8th gear because its about idling at 55 in 8th. It is a 89 Ford LTL 9000

The other truck is a Internation 2300(i think, not sure on year) it has a Cummins L10, good motor, but the straight 7 speed I HATE, its a bastard of a tranny to haul water with.

(edit) The Ford has an 18 Ton Dry Fertilizer Box on it, and the International has a 3200 gallon tank on it to give you an idea of how much weight they are moving.
