To all those with 38+ tires who rock crawls and how much of an angle do get before you start to panic? I've got 36's and will be going to a 39.5 or maybe a 42 and rock crawl'n is my game.

I have 2 big Chevys with 10" lift each (all 1 ton) and I run 39.5X18 Boggers and 38.5X14.5 TSL/SXs. Pictures at http://www.bigerik.coloradoK5.com. Anybody else have trouble accelerating quickly with big tires and a mildly built small block? These heavy tires call for alot of HP and torque if you want to accelerate, especially uphill. I have 5.13s.
Ya just gotta have a BB Chevy to move big tires. Sure you can do it with a mouse motor, but a rat is the better choice. Both my one ton Sub on 39.5"ers and 12" lift with 4.56 gears, and dually crewcab on 42"ers and 10" lift with 5.13s both accelerate just fine and have plenty o' power with their 454s.
Dude, could you check out my post on "Tranny not putting power to the ground" made this morning and tell me if my problem is "not enough motor"? I'll bump the post to the front now.
pcorssmit, your rig rocks! i love this trend towards low lift, big meats and lots o cuttin'! 39s with a 3"-maybe i should try some 40-42 inchers with my 4" lift!
Hey bigerik, I just checked out your webpage (awesome rigs!). Just wanted to say I really like the info you have under "Lessons Learned" and "Weaknesses". Also the list of mods under the "good" and "suck" category. This is the kind of personal experience stuff that is really helpful to others.
