big yellow tow truck

Truck looks good. Seeing some of these photos makes me not miss when I worked as a mobile mechanic. It can be a bear working on the bigger stuff.

So what are the plans for it now that it's "done"?

its a oh crap truck at work .

to go places and get stuff reg 2wd tow trucks don't belong .

we took a old shot/rusted out 1970 4x4 c60 and used driveline in this good shape but kind of worthless 2wd . . . mix-n-match ma

trust me this pic it looks great but up close she is shot . cab/front clip . and its a old all mech tow boom on the back .

That's cool. For some reason I thought it was yours.

na not mine.

if I did one it would have different driveline for better highway rpm use and brakes .

also I would make it 4ft or so longer wheel base for toolbox in the middle section all the way across both sides.

That van's box would make a great storage shed,or enclosed trailer...never rust or rot !..

well she got a work out few sundays ago . . .

and now with the north east snow machine pumping out all this stuff she got a work out tonight I have done 6-7 calls in it since we made her 4x4 . she might be slow all the way around but she just works and gets the job done ! slow and steady is her motto.

the boss used her the other day for a c-60 size wood chip truck 1/2 way up the rims in a yard with a full load of chips. . . . and they got it stuck the night before and it rained all night . she just chugged along and got the job done with 1 line only didn't even need the second. she sat right were he parted her.

That sure is a stubby little guy. I bet that's the only draw back to that truck, the amount of weight you can pull/pick with the wheel lift. I bet it turns tight though.

tight turn = yes and around here in my area hills turns trails = best .

price he got the truck for he was not going to complain . its not a d.d. use truck tho so this helps the limitations .

Yeah I used to tow semis and we had an old POS kenworth highway truck converted to a wrecker. It was long but not long enough and if you put too much weight on the wheel lift it would get too light up front to steer. We also did a lot of wreck recovery in the mtns and we could easily pull the front 6' in the air pulling hard with the winch. I always loved towing and doing recoveries of all kinds.

well update : the old girl is doing real good . she got a major face lift . also got here stickers .

most all the calls we do the people just love this old school setup . then you tell them its 4x4 they just go crazy . even had a few cops want to check her out when we were done with the call .

i just have a few tweeks to do here to her shortly .

but for now here ya go .

:doah: ewww to sunny a pic big glair . . . will have to get better one . :pimp:
