bigger tires

A set of mild mud terrains is what you want. Reputable brand hard to go wrong with Good years MTs or BFG MTs. I personally like Yokohamas too. Toyos are good if you are willing to give up a bit of off road performance for on road wear and performance.

One thing I always thought looked " wrong" with our trucks is the fact that the rear axle is so much narrower than the front, I think wheel spacers would be a dandy addition to get the overall "look" how you want it.

Those fender flares do very very little for overall tire clearance but I have in the past trimmed out a couple of flares like that ( for Fords actually) and came up with a bigger wheel well opening to fit a bigger tire and had the flare look very intact from the outside. We did have to use some epoxy on the flares and get creative mounting the lower corners but it worked well.

Like I said moving that front axle forward is a good way to fit bigger tires and while the ez inch is an easy way to do it, same can be done with a drill just redrill the holes for the center pin, moving that front axle forward an inch will do wonders for tire clearance

Did you just use the word "dandy" in a sentence? :eek1: Not everyday you hear or see the word "dandy" thrown around.:D

I think that's swell.........

thanks blazinzuk, sounds like you have been in the game for awhile

im deff lookin forward to gettin home and playin around with this thing

from what my dad says everything looks to be in really great shape so shouldnt need much of any work, but it will be a fun truck,im more of a mud kinda guy vs. rocks and such,so we will see what happens, thanks again for all the advice

im new to the k5 world so im sure i wil have plenty more questions once i get back and start messin round with this thing

Those Bajas would look great with 4"lift...

I ran 35s with a 4" for a while, then trimmed with bushwackers and 36s... But, only 2"back spacking... That looked good... Never had rubbing issues on or off road... I love the look of flares on a street rig if done right...

1.5" spacers, I have put on many different brands its more about the proper installation than the actual brand name.

I use trail gear stuff quite often

Before you buy spacers for the rear make sure they are legal in your state. Here in Pa they are not but I know several people that run them and just take them off for inspection. Anyhow, I like the Goodyear MT/R's. They are a great all around tire. If you plan to daily drive it and wheel now and again go with a radial tire. I also prefer lower lifts with a little trimming. I ran 37's on a Tuff Country 3" lift for years both on and off road. I am still running the same front springs all though they have sagged to a little over 2" of lift. I guess 10 years of abuse will do that.

6 in lift - 35x12.50x15 Swamper SSR radials in the first pic. 35x12.50x15 Goodyear MTR kevlar in the second pic. If you get a swamper - get the SSR radials like these. Kinda regret getting rid of mine

i know shipping would kill the deal, but let me know if you want to get rid of those 35's. My dads k5 would be ideal for those tires, as he mainly runs in the dunes, and light mud action.

I really like the way a 6" lift and 35's looked. Here is my old k5 on 35" claw radials. Get some tires with less back spacing, or spacers and I think you will like the look.

Be careful with Swampers, I know a few guys that had problems with the tread peeling off. My first K5 had SSR's and they were ok but loud. Wife knew when I was about a mile from home. I never had a issue with mine but that was over 10 years ago.

That a 10" wheel??

Do you have a pic showing the side of the tire, i want to see how it looks with a wide wheel.

My fenders are opened up about 2" and my 37's are in them all the time off road, but never on the street. I will soon have the axle moved 1" forward - which also would not work without the trimming.

I've been looking for pics of what to trim and how much. Is there any good pic floating around.
Thanks
