I found a full set of bilstein 7100 shocks for 200 bucks on craigslist. Good deal or not?
I don't know the travel or the valving but I figured they would get rebuild and maybe a valving change.

This is what the add says "Bilstein 7100 shocks- valved for a full size truck. 18" body, 31" full length from eye to eye."

Im guessing they are 12 inches of travel.

Good buy or no? Thinking it might be a good when I 52/56 swap my truck because now I can do a stiffer valving for street use.

Edit - I found another ad of his and it looks like they might have came off a jeep with 5 inches of lift because he's selling other jeep parts in his listing.

And that sounds right for 12s.
If you need seals or valving etc lemme know I can get you parts, Kartek for some reason are noobs and can’t..
We could also talk to @Stephen about the valving for the leaf springs, so we have a decent baseline.

Ok I'll see if I can snag these. How hard is it to rebuild them?

Depends on how the springs are as far as arch, there are plenty of guys letting them droop too far, I think 12 is plenty, but that is only my opinion.. I read some guys get 14 inch shocks and use all them.. I wanna see the spring pack fully extended..
 
Thanks for the info. Trying to keep things some what cheap for now till I can save for the direction I want the truck to eventually go. I want to have some fun while I'm saving.

I think this is a good stop gap, it’ll be better than an off shelf shock, rebuildable and you could make your money back on them. I think having a better shock and spring setup to work for what you want to do is better than total travel..

Well I am some what in the process of an LS swap..but I like my 3 pedals lol so I'll be keeping my manual trans. Not sure I can go fast with a sm465 right now. If I could figure out shipping, i might have a line on a nv4500. I still wanna take a ride in his truck before I decide to link it.

@secutright has a 465 still and he goes the fastest.. of our group.. if it works keep it.. sure the 4500 is nice but hope its not like mine and screams at you on the highway..
 
The guy updated his CL ad after getting my email (he didn't reply so I'll text him tomorrow). Here's what his ad says now

"Bilstein 7100 shocks- valved for a full size truck, came off a lifted suburban. 18" body, 31" full length from eye to eye, with 13" of travel. These have the premium stainless billet clamps, not the cheap hose clamp. I have not run these shocks and bought them used, so I don't know the exact valving. They will need a rebuild and a charge. Several places in town now that rebuild Bilstein's if you don't want to do it yourself. Just need a quick polish and they will look great under your rig. These are $225 each new, great chance to get a premium rebuildable reservoir shock set for cheap."
 
I just put a set of 12" travel 7112's in the front of my k5 with 4" lift. They seem to be a good size and allow for plenty of flex on my rig. I don't think they actually come in 13" travel. As I was looking them up I found 2" increments. 8,10,12,14. I got rebuild kits from Summit for $28 each but lots of places had them in stock. The valving is another story, not many places list valving for sale. I am sure the valving is available but it wasn't a simple point and click like the rebuild kits. They also are not $225 each, more like $180.

I kind of figured they weren't 13 in of travel. I tried looking some stuff up about them and that's how I figured 12 inches. You guys know a lot more then me so I figured I'd post. Still a good buy for 200 bucks for 4?
 
I think $200 is ok. They are easy to rebuild. I paid $80 for my pair and then had to rebuild them. I am happy with it.
 
You should always talk them down on craigslist stuff. Used is a crap shoot and cash is king.
