Bilstein Woes.

Got the rears installed, kind of a pain for the upper parts but some brute force and persistance paid off.

anyways, summit sent me the "correct" replacement shock.(see attached)

clearly it is not right. Part# is wrong, bilstein's catalog calls for a G van rear shock or auxillary shock (I'm thinking for the quad shock setup?)

so I called them again and ended up speaking to someone more knowledgeable. They are going to contact Bilstein and get this resolved. Hopefully I get the right shock in before Saturday because I got a few hours of towing to do.

Looks correct enough to me.

A bit different travel isn't a big deal. Who knows if the old one was correct.

and what "state" are those in? just "resting" height..

extend them both all the way, than compress both all the way and compare those dimensions... that's what's critical...

those are fully de-compressed.

compressed completely they are about 2" off

note that the one mounting location on the new shocks lacks the metal cylinder that sandwhiches between the frame for mounting that the stock shock has, I would have to add a bunch of washers to get it to mount correctly.

Bilstein probably doesn't include the extra material for the upper eye. Washers should do the trick nicely.

Have you gotten the part number from Bilstein and ordered that part number from Summit? I know they list the Bilstein part number on their site.
FYI - too late now but there are other sites that are cheaper on Bilstein's than Summit.

Are you talking about the front on top?

I cut down the metal sleeve in the bilsteins, and use the stock spacer to keep it tight. Washers would work too though.

The part listed on their site shows that metal piece but it wasn't what I got in.

I double checked the part number between summit and bilstein catalog when i originally ordered just to be sure.

I know that some had them cheaper but the shipping was next day for 0 dollars and I had to pick up some misc other things from them too so it "worked out." lol

My bilstein front's came with the metal sleeves loose in the box, and i had to cut them and cram them in.
