anyone who had doubts about the performance potential of diesels in general, and the duramax/allison combo, or biodiesel....... should check out this link,

http://blogs.motortrend.com/6205252...pala-into-bio-rocket-for-earth-day/index.html

a 4000lbs 1965 chevy impala, runing 11.5 second quarter miles, getting more than 20mpg, and whats most impressive to me, 0-60 for that big ol land yaght, 3.5 seconds. all that on eco friendly B100 biodiesel, in one bad arse ride to boot i might add ;)

Diesels are coming of age.
Both Audi and VW have Diesel cars in the Speed world challenge. They did so well last year that SCCA made rule changes making their fuel tanks smaller to make if more fair. Because the Diesel cars got such good fuel mileage. They did not have to make pit stops for fuel like gassers do.
Audi won in Sebring this year in their R10 TDI. it will be interesting to see how they do at Le Mans this weekend. i think they will kick ass.

my next tow rig is gonna be biodiesel for sure, just imagine a road trip to moab running on free fuel, I could afford to go wheeling alot more, plus the money saved over the long term would compensate for the cost of the tow rig. A guy I know rotates about 5 drums of used vegtable oil he gets from the school cafeterias for free and runs it in his '06 2500hd and tows his boat to the lake/river with it every weekend atleast a few hundred miles each way, he just keeps a drum of the stuff in the back of his truck when hes covering some distance, a has a 12 volt pump to move it into his tank, setting a truck up to run on biodiesel is cake compared to the work people are putting into their rigs on here, great way to go imo

im lookin into the fuel miser biodiesel mini refinery. if i can talk my parents into getting diesel cars, and with my truck, it would pay for itself in a year or two. ive actually done a quick design on a trailer that would have the refinery, and the storage tanks for the waste oil, methanol, lye, and biodiesel. so if i need to go cross country..... i can take a gas station with me, so long as i have fast food resturants, ill have go juice :)

Has anybody seen the bio-diesel fueled turbine that Jay Leno had Chev custom build for him. He is talking like 650 horses from a custom carbon fiber chassis. Thing is supposed to scream, if Chevy ever finishes the interior.
