Black Betty - Formerly Blaze the Monster Machine

1984 K5 Project for Dad and kids
I usually slide some heat resistant sleeve around any fuel line where they go near the exhaust, particularly up by the headers or near where it squeeze's between the transfer case and frame.

That's on the list. At the moment it's just mock up and seeing how to route lines and place things before I start cutting and making hoses. I'll get some more time on Friday to mess with it. Need to get a list of fittings made so I can get those ordered.

Anyone happen to know what the thread size is on the feed and return line of the sending unit?

Got a couple of hours out here today. Not the most enjoyable thing to work on but it’s gotta get done. Got a few more fittings coming for the feed lines on the front of the rails and I’ll get that buttoned up. Need to figure out what size the fittings on the sending unit are so I can get the correct adapter and finish the fuel system a 100%.

I would use the rubber isolators to mount the MSD box.

The sending unit are 14 mm and 16 mm with o-rings.

I sell the Fragola 491970BL and 491971BL fittings for that. I could put them in the box with the other parts?

I didn't see any rubber isolators in the box? May have missed them though.

Absolutely send those along with the other parts.

They don't come with every MSD box, but when mounted to something rigid or metal, especially under the hood, I recommend the isolators.

Glad someone could use it, hopefully I sent you enough pictures you can put it back together, I took quite a few.

Between those and the internet, I can piece it together. Bolts got here today also. If I wasn’t flying to Atlanta this week I’d get it cleaned up and put on. Maybe Sunday.

Did you find the fuel fittings in there? Don't accidentally toss them in the trash with the packing paper.

Yup. Got them. Last two parts needed to finish the fuel system. Get the front brackets bolted up so I can finish the supply lines and then finish the work at the tank. Then on to my least favorite thing, wiring.

Water pump, thermostat, and thermostat housing ordered. Going to pick them up from the parts store this afternoon along with a power steering pump pulley puller so I can get that swapped on to my PSC pump. Doubt I get anything done this weekend since it’s Mother’s Day but you never know.

Well damn. Got some time and started assembling stuff. Went to check the power steering bracket on my PSC pump and wouldn’t you know it, dang line is in the way and won’t let the serpentine bracket bolt up. IMG_9991.jpeg

Looks like gm changed the pump up just enough between 1985 and 1990 so my pump won’t work with the serpentine kit.

When I swapped the early 90s big block serp brackets in my 83 small block v belt pump bolted right up.

And the 90 SBC pump bolted right on the 90 big block brackets. But I have never tried to bolt an 85 SBC pump on a 90 BBC bracket. I though all the pumps were pretty much the same and only the reservoir changed.

The front only uses 3 bolts to bolt the pump on angled outward, then you can press the pulley on.

It’s probably a PSC thing. Not a big deal buying a new one. This pump always groaned from the moment I installed it. Tried their fancy fluid. Ran their box. Called them. Bled it numerous times. Gonna turn it in for a core.
